Riley

Guitarist with The Toy Dolls, Olga, makes his own thumbpicks.

He basicaly gets a sheet of plastic he likes, cuts it down to the size he wants. Then wraps gaffa tape around it to make a loop that goes over his thumb.

I haven't tried it yet. I've always liked the idea of thumbpick and switch between regular pick and thumb and fingers. So a decent thumbpick may be just the way for me. I hate the way they feel on my thumb. Its almost painfull when you hit too hard the plastic is way too thick too.

Hmm, that gives me an idea :!: , I could ask the plastics teacher at our school if I can make some thumb picks, that'll be cool 8)

What you need to do is study how a traditional thumbpick sits on your thumb. How it hits the strings when you wear your guitar, I notice from your pictures it's a little low. Not ideally suited to traditional thumbpicks.
You could look at designing a thumbpick specialy suited to a more rock style. get your design and technology tutors to assist you, it could even earn you a merit or maybe even start you a business.

Is it not plain english???

In your picture your guitar is worn low when your standing up. That doesnt suit the way thumbpicks are designed. The guitar needs to be up round your shoulders for them so you hit the strings with the flat of the pick.
