Now I go to bed every night with the whole eventuality planned out. The car is always at the front of the house, the wallet is next to me, the car keys are on the table at the top of the stairs. I can wake up, grab my wallet, grab 2 kids, missus grabs the 3rd, grab the car keys get downstairs and get the kids in the car. Getting out is all well and good but you got to have somewhere to go.

I've never factored a single guitar into it. Theres a few at my moms, drummers and atleast two onloan to mates. I'd probably save my marshall 2x12 combo if I could pluck up the courage to go back in.

I even know some kids who like watching the fire engines turn up, that would start the fire for you.

If I were thinking in a purely practical way, I'd grab the Am Deluxe J-bass. That's the most overall versatile of my basses and so as a practical matter, the best (if I had only one) to make money with, etc.

Sentimental grab - the 73 Mustang 6 string because I've had it for a long time, but that would also be the worst choice in terms of future use. But if I had that split second to think before running toward the window (and a landing on my downstairs neighbor's big patio umbrella), I'd grab the bass.

Well i like all of mine equally so whichever one i could get to after getting my kids and wife out. Which would be kinda easy since i have all 4 of them close to my bedroom window i could just toss them all out of harms way. In the spirit of the OP question to save only one i'd have to say my Jasmine S35 Takamine just because it was my first and holds sentimental value.

Oh, no question about it, my Clapton strat that I've had for 15 years.
My escape route is grab guitar, down 5 steps from bedroom/outside door, and keep running!
