Hey guys. I recently put some of the new re-introduced Fender 250LR strings on my '09 MIM Tele. 9-46 gauge, nickel plated steel. These look and feel very much like D'addario EXL125's, that are the same gauge. They also have the colored ball ends like D'ad, but in vintage Fender colors. Anyone have the inside scoop on these. They are made in the USA too. They sound great, but have a bit more tension than the Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky's I have been playing. I've got some of Fender's new phosphor bronze to try on my acoustic too, but haven't as of yet. Thanks.

I've tried elixirs. They just aren't my cup of tea. They sound kind of dead to me. I've tried DR pure blues .10's, D'addario exl110, Ernie Ball Regular Slinky, Classic Rock n Roll pure nickel .10's, and Dean Markley Helix HD .10's on my tele since I bought it last year. Most recently I've been using Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys, .09-46. These new Fender's are also .09-46, but the high E feels almost as stiff as the .10 Regular Slinky EB's. In fact, I'm really having a tough time deciding which I like better. Hybrids, Regular Slinky .10's or the Fenders. I also had a very short trial of EB Power Slinky .11's, but I didn't like the tone or stiffness of them at all. The Regular Slinkys have stayed in tune better than any I've tried thus far, for whatever reason.

yea i know what you mean with that 'dead' sound, but i think, for some reason, that sound gives a unique-ness to my tone. i hear it, but like it lol. i dont know how to describe it.

2010 Fender strings, who make them? Fender I would guess.

Yeah, it could be that Fender is manufacturing these themselves, but I am a bit suspicious of that. If these aren't repackaged D'addario's I would be surprised. Don't take that as being a bad thing either, as I like D'ad's too. Either way, they play and sound nice, so it doesn't really matter who makes 'em. I was just curious. I'm thinking of trying the pure nickel 150r .10's next, as they don't offer the .09-46 gauge in pure nickel in the new line. The older pure nickels did offer that gauge.
