Well if you want to open an antique store you must have some knowledge of things that are well old.lol If you spend more time checking out different guitars or older ones you start to know what to look out for. There are a lot of great books on Fender guitars and other brands too that I would advise you read.

The best you can do on ebay is ask as many questions as possible then end with is it all original or has anything been modded and always use paypal. This way if the guitar comes not as described you will get your money back.

Ok, im sure you guys all seen the ads on sites like ebay or craigslist where someone is selling a brand name guitar way below what the book price is.

Sometimes it's because they genuinely need the money or its a model or colour that doesn't quite sell as quickly as others (clockwork art or somethin) but then sometimes you just see things that dont add up.

Screws that stick out, truss rod covers that dont seem authentic and/or other warning signs, and a newb like me doesnt know the difference so i often back out of buying when it just doesnt feel right.

My question is does anyone have a good website for finding Fender, Gibson and Martin, guitar fakes? Also, if you have some key clues or tips on what to look for Any help appreciated!

"Any help appreciated!"

when you hold the guitar in your hands look at it closely then play it, in preparation for this, every time you see a guitar and you are not holding yours, hold the guitar in your hands look at it closely then play it, you will know what guitar you are playing every time then, I'm good at the big 2 and some of their brands, other brands Ibanez, ESP, Washburn, PRS, Schecter, Hamer, MK, BC Rich, Dean(crazy shapes excluded) I would get mixed up, the feel and sound is so same, there are probably people who can spot a fake with those too though.

I personally wouldn't buy an instrument without playing with it at the store first. That's just me though. Whatever floats your boat I suppose. :)
