I have a gig this Sunday. I've been trying to get out of it, but I can't. Next time there's an event like this I really hope that I'll be able to go.

"On July 17, 1941 in Houston Texas, a son was born to Morris and Margaret Alexis. Bobby Lee Alexis attended Jack Yates High School and Prairie View A&M University.

Bobby Married Gwendolyn Davis on July 22, 1979. Their thirty one year union produced three children.

Bobby started his professional career in 1962 as the organ player for Mr. Don Robey's Duke and Peacock record company studio band The Dukes of Soul. In 1964 Bobby recorded a single "Jazzy Blues" on the Great Scott label. Albert Collins played guitar on the single which put Bobby on the road all over the South, West coast and Chicago playing along with Buddy Ace, Little Jr Parker, Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland, Joe Hughes, Guitar Slim and Guitar Shorty.

In 1965 Bobby started working with Albert Collins. They started recording for the Hall Recording Company and had a string of regional hits including Bobby's second instrumental single, "Homesick", which later was on one of Alberts albums.

Bobby worked primarily with Albert Collins for the next twenty three years. While working with Albert, Bobby toured throughout the United States and all over the world. Bobby played keyboards on most of Albert Collins recordings over the years and most recently can be seen on the "Albert Collins and the Ice Breakers"-"The Iceman at Mount Fuji" DVD released by Virgin records.

When not touring with Albert, Bobby continued to work with Guitar Slim and played many shows with Bo Diddly. Bobby also found time to perform alone, doing the Solo Express, a one man Zydeco and Blues show.

In addition to the above mentioned Blues masters, Bobby had the opportunity to play with BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Bobby Blue Bland, Trudy Lynn, and virtually all of the national and international blues starts that have come out of the Houston, Texas area."

MY OWN WORDS-

I toured and played with Bobby for years. To all that can make the benefit, thanks for your support for this event and the Alexis family.
