While doing some odds and ends around the house I put on some Best of Smiths and Morrissey CDs that I haven't listened to in ages.I gave the songs a real good listen and realized again why I liked them so much and it's mainly because of Johnny Marr's great guitar work and the dark humor of Morrissey's lyrics such as"If a ten ton truck runs over both of us just to die by your side would be such a lovely way to die."Who else could come up with something so darkly funny?Johnny Marr certainly never got the recognition that he deserved either just the simple tremolo drenched guitar part in How Soon Is Now? is brilliant despite it's simplicity and his guitar in Hand in Glove,I could list just about every song they do as Johnny's work certainly made the songs so great. So any more Smiths fans in the forum? There must be loads in the UK.

I agree. Johnny Marr doesn't get as much credit as he is due. His solo stuff is amazing.
I am not a huge Morrisey fan except for Meat is murder and a few other songs.-N 8)

I absolutely love the music of the Smiths... But then again I am a child of the 80's... Grad. High school in 86 and college in 90...

I'm right there with you Cajun...love the Smiths. Morrissey's solo efforts are killer as well. He seems like a really troubled man, but insanely talented. Johnny Marr complements him very well. I must have played "The Queen is Dead" record 1000 times in college...LOVE THE SMITHS!
