Ryan being as though your in the industry do you know where I may find details of the case in Scotland where a guy was snapped speeding and got the case thrown out of court. He made a counter claim against the police force for an invasion of privacy.

The whole thing is just one huge money making scheme. The guy who invented the gatso proved it's a major cause of bad driving. People drive starring in their rear view mirrors when there are cameras around. Their constantly looking for the flash.

I use the site http://www.lexisnexis.com for case law, although you would need to be on a computer with an account. Sometimes schools/universities has pre-ordered accounts which allow you access the site. An extremely useful site/tool.

*edit - I don't think my work has access to international cases (I live in the u.s.) but I'll double check just in case I can look it up for you.

S'why i'm not getting a car, I've gota feeling if I do I'll cause alot of accidents.....

.....Speaking of, in grade 6, 2nd last week of primary school, we went to this place where they had these little mini cars that go up to 10 km an hour (I know, fast or what?(sarcasm)), and we had to spend a day driving them around this little circut with traffic lights. I was on top of the world cause I shared a mini car with the girl who I had a crush on, and we had to wrap legs for some odd reason. Anyway, about 3 hours in, my second shot, we stop for a bit, we get back in the mini cars, about 10 meters in front of me is my best friends car, parked. I start mine up, and accidentley put my foot on the accelerate pedal instead of brake pedal. Anyway my best mates just got in, about to put his seat belt on, and I'm coming up behind out of control, cracking myself up, the girl I shared the car with is screaming her head off, we hit em at top speed, neither of them had there seat belts on, so one of them hit his buck teeth on the dashboard, my best mate hits his shoulder on the edge of the car and dislocates it, and tey both bump there heads on the hard roof, and the funnyest thing was, when I hit em i didn't stop, I kept going pushing the car forward. The girl next to me puts her foot on the brake pedal, and my best mate falls out, on the ground laughing and at the same time looking really pissed off with me, I'm still cracking up!

Good times...

It has been shown that Red Light cameras increase auto mobile accidents by a large number but they claim it decreases the more serious ones from the side. It is just a money source of revenue just like speeding cameras.
What is interesting is that it is not a vehicle violation in the sense that you broke a law. It is a civil penalty on the vehicle owner. Many have questioned that if a Policeman see's you do it then you get charged with braking a law but if a camera catches you it's a civil penalty, how can there be two separate devises and outcomes for the same violation?

I tell people wait until they get a photo ticket from a jurisdiction that is no where near where you live because the read the plate wrong. Talk about try to fight something over the phone so you don't have to drive six hours to go to arbitration. I had that happen to me, I could not make the tag out clear on the ticket myself and it was on a model car I don't own which could be seen by the registration if they would have looked. After numerous phone calls and being told just report to the office and dispute it that it would be droped "yea six hours each way" finally after righting a letter to the Mayor I got a response and it was handed off to some one else and they did finally take care of it but what a pain.

Many people don't know that these photo's are being processed many states away from where they were taken by companies hired to do so. Also numerous states have stop using cameras but in more recent times more are starting because of the fiscal problem and they need the source for revenue nothing to do with safety which is the excuse our politicians give us.

A large number around me that don't have ticket cameras still have cameras that the mass transit uses to monitor flow and adjust the traffic light timing if need to improve flow. In Baltimore they have cameras on light post watching an they still have a murder a night. They just do it away from the blue flashing light that shows a camera in use.

I once heard about someone that had the exact same thing happen, they received a ticket in the mail with a picture of them running a red light and a fine of $100 dollars. In an attempt to be a smarta$$ they took a picture of $100 dollars cash and mailed it back in the provided envelope. A few weeks went by and they thought nothing else of it until they received another letter in the mail. In this one was a picture of handcuffs. They paid the fine.

I know this really doesn't help, but if it lightened your mood, even just a little bit, then i've done my job. :)

God Himself's own country.

Ofcourse they have lawyers in Austrailia. Just think about how the place was first populated and you'll see the need for em

I'm just kiddin lads. All them fellas that got deported from England got a much better deal than those left behind.

CV over here if you ask enough questions, cause enough work, the ticket will often be dropped.
If you start asking for speed camera callibration certificates (must be callibrated every 2 years), officer training certificates (each must undergo training for gatso's every 18months.). Then start going into the legalities of whether it is lawful to place a camera in that place (there has to be 3 fatalities a year in a 100yard stretch of road). They give up and just drop it a lot of the time. What they are relying on is that you will just pay the thing and have done with it. As soon as the cost of paperwork gets near the £60 average speeding fine, they dont want to know. Proving it to be a money making scam and nothing to do with law enforcement to my mind.
Imagine if everyone who got a speeding fine from a camera took the case to court. The magistrates would be inundated, they wouldnt be able to do anything else.
I've recently been looking at a lot of Rob Menards philosophies on law and its applications to the normal person. I dont like a lot of the cultish rubbish surrounding it, but researching it with blacks law dictionary his reasoning is sound. All law action is based on maritime law.
