Same here, achievement - yes, skill - yes, talent - yes, self belief and motivation - yes,

fame - no...

We have not heard from the dude who worked on the Midnight Special for a while. I can't even remember his handle now?

I had brought something similar to this up a few months ago as the EBMM forum has John Petrucci and Johnny Hiland amongs other endorsed artist drop in and talk shop which I found really cool . Also a few amazing players from the UK like Jamie Humphries and Andy James come in and show videos of new cuts they are working on and are more than willing to help out on any questions. To be honest at first I was like wow, but it just boils down to being really cool to see that these guys like talking shop the same as the rest of us. In fact to be honest early on I kind of got into an argument with Sterling Ball who is on everyday about who else- John Mayer.lol Then I had put up something Steve Lukather had said years ago and Sterling called him up to see if what I said was true- which it was.lol But I must admit Sterling is a fascinating guy and tells some amazing stories that come from a guy who knows everyone, kind of like talking to Mike Eldred.

Brad had said he was going to ask a few guys to drop in, so I guess he must still be working on it. I think it would be great to have a few artist drop in and make some post under there own name or else what would be the purpose. I know Sterling's shoulders are much broader than Brads after all he is the owner. But the artist there do it because they enjoy it and not because it is contracted or anything. And besides we have a mature and great crew on this forum and I really doubt anyone would be rude or even starstruck for that matter. So maybe we will get a post from Clapton 01 this week.lol

I'm waiting for the instance where some buffoon gets nasty and denounces everything someone says, only to find they've just told Clapton or Vai there wrong and dont know nothing.

(unless I've done it already ofcourse  )

No, I'm Sparticus! :D

BTW: dunno what leads me to say this, but I'd just like to say hi to Dave Gilmour if he's looking in. What makes me think he just might be... :?:

I've always thought of big Dave when I've suspected people are on here to.

Tell me Ceri, indeed what does lead you to say that?

I am the Eggman btw....

Hi Eggman: ah, well now you ask I'm wracking my brains to remember where I read it. But in some interview or other he gave the distinct impression he was a surfer in these places - I think the interview concerned the Black Strat reissue so speculation on forums was being discussed. It stuck in my head because it surprised me - I didn't quite take him for the type.

Nice if he is though - [in the voice of Hal from 2001] hello Dave! :D

Cheers - C

You could certainly imagine the anonymity of the web being a real boon to such high profile people. They could just post under any user name, engage in conversations with multiple people, and no one would be worried that their a gazzilionaire with a huge career. Seems like a rock stars dream to me. After all the excess there's a little patch of abnormality to relax in.

Exactly. Like I said before, this is the one and only Fender.com so it would make sense for well known professionals to be on here discussing their tools of their trade.

I wonder if any of our regulars are though.

(In voice of Papa Lazaru) 'You're my wife now Dave!'

Yea, I just watched something on Youtube with Gilmour...he was doing some sort of interview and was really talking more about guitars and playing than Pink Floyd stuff. I didn't get to see the whole thing but it looked the like interview was actually being done in his living room or something...just really laid back and relaxed. I think that's part of what got me to thinkin' about this really...I could see Mr. Gilmour sitting back on his PC just wanting to talk to some ordinary people about guitars.

Then there was that link in another thread to a Clapton interview where EC and Blackie had been "reunited" and I kind of got the same impression reading the interview...that EC just liked talking about guitars. I kind of figured after that to toss the idea out there...I'd be willing to bet there's at least a couple of famous folk around here. As Nick said there, I could see where the anonymity would be really great for guys like that.

BTW...to everyone just for the record, I really didn't expect anyone like that to really say who they were. Just that horribly wicked tendency of mine to try and get people thinking a little bit...ya never know who could be peeping in on us around here :-).

And Dave or EC...if either of you are out there watching, good work...huge fan here and both of you have seriously influenced my own playing over the years...thank you!

And BTW.... -I'm- Spartacus!
