Has Fender ever had a major run of guitars with Flame Maple?

I've seen Custom Shop Strats, but i wondered if they ever have done it in a major model.

In the 90's Fender did some American Standards with flame maple. Was a limited run though if I recall. Maybe for the 40th Anniversary??

More recently there is the Showmaster. Been discontinued though.

And there was the maple top version of the Aerodyne Strat too. Also discontinued. Maple tops just aren't Fender's thang, if you know what I mean....

The now discontinued American Deluxe series had flamed and quilted maple models.

I tried out a lightly stained FMT Aerodyne a few weeks ago,it was one of the prettiest guitars I've seen but the way it5 played and sounded didn't justify the near $2000 price tag since it has been in the store for at least 2 yrs.

If i'm not mistaken the Showmaster was the pre Aerodyne...

I think what Fender did wrong was not really bursting the finishes and they forgot the Pickguard.

I saw a picture of a Flamed Custom shop Strat and it was done in a burst with a pearloid pick guard and it looked amazing.
