Glad that you had the insight to notice it and get out before things got really out of hand.

Best wishes with your next project and learn from any mistakes.

Hit some open mics and jams too...you might just find what you're looking for. Good luck!

Best of luck Jeff. You probably did the right thing, it sounds like it anyway. I like having fun but professionalism has to come first or it just isn't fun at all.

Get your ad's out there for a new project and keep playing and smiling.

Good Luck to you .
You'll be fine.
With your attitude and ethic you can get yourself another band.

Parts of this story sound very familiar! Assuming that your main reason for playing in a band is for enjoyment and fun rather than an attempt to 'make it to the big time' or make money, the first and most important ingredient for the band is Chemistry.

After that comes all the other elements such as level of committment, common musical interests, talent levels, etc. Get the Chemistry right to start with or it won't last long, even if the other elements are there.

I've been looking for a new group for some time now, but my very rural area makes options limited. You should fair much better. Just consider it another learning experience.

Sounds like you were best out of that one Jeffo.
Musicians are a weird bunch and if you get the wrong ones, life can be very awkward.
I've been involved in a few horror stories and I mean, publicly, on stage,
things I don't really want to go into here.
Absolutely essential that you find people with a professional attitude and approach, it just does not work with the others.
Best of luck for the future, I really hope things work out.

Don't worry bud at least you have the guts to tell your band you want outs...
I been trying to find the best time for to announce I'm quitting without the lead singer slandering my name for the remainder of the school year...

I just don't get how some people can be such jerks, but then everyone likes them...

I left my band "Broken Wing", a couple of days ago , due to dealing with drama and games. You would figure that being in a band with people your own age group (40's -50's), this would be a thing of the past, but I guess not. It all started with our formed lead singer who told us that she was willing to try whatever we wanted. Well after a couple a weeks, she was trying to turn it into her band and would only do songs that she liked, so she was fired. Next, the other guitarist would never take the time to come to practice prepared, which would really upset me. He never took the time to learn any of the songs and would always ask me, what's the chord to this song, etc, and would always have to crank his amp above everyone. Then the Bassist would always come to practice late and instead of sticking to the set list, would try to throw new songs in the mix before we were done working with what we were working with on the set. It just got to the point where I just couldn't take it anymore and I gave them my notice on Sunday that I was done. I told them to start looking for a new lead guitarist and that I wasn't coming back. I pride myself on my professionalism and there was none at all in this band IMO.

At least you were generous enough to give them notice. When I quit my band, I did it the night before a gig. Of course.......the last straw for me in that band was telling me about the gig the night before (daytime gig)..........when it was known about about the gig, a long time before. They just never bothered to tell me.

Even at our age, its tough to get everyone on the same page. Try some open jams, to meet new people. Hopefully you will meet jammers that may work out better. Sometimes the jams are more fun than being in a band, with no drama. :)
