Hey guys I was hoping to get some recommendations on what order my pedals should go in. Right now it's Fender USA Strat into Original Ibanez TS808, Ibanez WH10V2 Wah, EH Big Muff, Boss DD-3, Caesar Diaz Tremodillo into my amp. I've been debating putting in either my Marshall Bluesbreaker or my Fender Blender. Any ideas? :D

Here's how I set my pedal chain:Guitar-Octave Distortion-Fuzz-Overdrive- Wah Wah-Tremolo-Vibe-Chorus-Flanger-Phase Shifter-Digital Delay-Amp. Some people put the wah in front of the fuzz etc. but I find that it muddies it up.

If it helps, I am using this right now:

Guitar->Wah->Wah->TS9->TS9->Phaser->Fuzz->Amp.

I dont think there's a right or wrong way though, it's trial and error.

hey velvet elvis, what amp are you using? You might want to put your delay and tremolo in the effects loop if it has one.

Here's another good article on this subject...

http://www.bossus.com/boss_users_group/ ... ticleId=39

So according to this article, you'd want to go with the followin setup:

guitar-->wah-->distortion-->tremolo-->delay-->amp

And since you have multiple overdrive/distortion pedals, you'll have to mix and match until you find the best combination. I've found that putting the heaviest distortion (ie. the Big Muff) first seems to work well in my setup.

Agreed!! I don't know if you use compression but I put mine in between the wah and distortion. Some put it after the distortion. You just have to experiment and find what works for you. Everybody has different ears and (likes)needs!! :wink:

That's what's great about Velcro!!! :)

ok, i admit i skimmed thru all the posts on this thread, but here is advice that i always play by.

use your effects loop and use it correctly.
use true analog pedals
dont skimp on cables, get good cables for everything.. bad pedals suck tone

check out core X2 cables and cable chains and elixir instrument cables.

That looks good Hop.

i don't think i have ever used more than 3 or 4 pedals at a shot.
frankly with what i see in your picture there hop, i could be quite happy going clean to amp, and occasionally mixing in one or two of those pedals.

It takes some thought and more patience than I seem to have to set up a pedal board without ruining your tone. my hat goes off to those of you who can do it.

iirc even gigging out the most i ever chained together was Wah>>Compressor>>TS-808>>Delay usually only set to slapback, (never could get the hang of the delay pedal)>>Reverb Tank>>Amp.
Adding anything more, i would lose control of my sound. :wink: even at this i rarely had even close to half of em on at a time. And i would almost always step on the wrong box at least a couple times a night.

To tell the truth 12B I bought all but one of those pedals before I bought the amp. Really you need nothing but the amp, tuner and maybe the reverb pedal once in a while. But since I have them I put them on a board!! :lol: :wink:

You'd be surprised at the tones I can get just from the amp and the guitars!! 8) :)

kinda my point hop!!!
maybe the reason i never got very good at piloting effects boards is that i have almost always had amps that made me happy without anything added. I liked their tones pretty much stock, and thus i only added effects when needed for a specific sound. And looking through my stuff, I don't think I have ever actually owned a real distortion pedal, closest is my Tubescreamer overdrive. and I played in a couple metal bands. (overdriven Marshall for the win I guess.)

looking at what you have, i would really suggest you pick up a 63 reissue reverb unit. You think the pedal gives you a good reverb, until you actually try it side by side with the real thing. of coarse there is a several hundred dollar price differential.
