My experiences of zoom (9001, 9050, 4040, 8080 and 707) are not in todays technology band. Things have moved on a hell of a lot since I last zoomed. I do however have a fairly recent digitech RP350. Those zoom models I mentioned have fair better drive sounds than any digitech I've heard (yes I think the 707 sounds better than a digi 2101 for drive).
Those old zooms are nowhere near the mark when it comes to modulation and pitch effects. I'd have to give it to digitech on delays and reverbs between the two.

Basicaly I use my digitech as a modulation or delay pedal with a footcontrol on the effect volume into the frontend of my amp. For drive boosts I use a rangemaster and a bad monkey.

I do find zoom products infinately easier to program than anything else bar line6 pod's.
