I always thought he was great.

Bill Nelson of Be Bop Deluxe is on my list.

Robert Fripp deserves mention, for sure.

Tommy Emmanuel and his brother Phil are both excellent guitarists. Every time I've seen them play live they've blown me away.

I concur but I think Stradlin more so, and then Young. I didn't mention Malcolm in mine cos someone else always does. Phenomenal player man.

I forgot to mention Prince as well guys and as some of you know from a certain video clip that has not to be argued with lol.

I still stick to my original 3 though, then Malcolm and then Prince.

I'm in the mood for everything now! lol

Yngwie Malmsteen. Just ask him if you don't believe me.

If he were to be acclaimed the greatest guitarist in the history of the world by the unanimous vote of every single living being, he'd still think he's underrated.

I don't know if this person is underrated so much as widely unknown (outside of guitar people like us)...

Rory Gallagher

It took me 24 years to find his music and I haven't found a tune I can't tap a foot to yet. If I could harness just a bit of his playing energy and talent I would be happy! 8)

Two of my favorite overlooked players:

Brad Whitford (Aerosmith) - Joe Perry gets all the press and does the great, flashy solos, but Brad lays down the funky, heavy rhythms that define the Aerosmith sound, and he's a fine, fine soloist as well. In short, IMHO, we should all strive to be as good as Brad Whitford.

Peter Frampton - mention the guy's name, and most people laugh and make the talkbox sound. But I've seen the guy a number of times in the past decade, and he's an absolutely smoking lead guitarist and a top-notch singer and songwriter. Great tone and incredibly tasty; one of the British guitar greats.

Grant Green
Neal Schon
Neil Giraldo

Grant Green's tone is just pure. He never got the recognition he deserved.
