my rig requires an all tube 2x12 with an effects loop, also drive and reverb on the footswitch. a hot rod doesnt have the verb on the f/s and the blues deville is covered in ugly tweed. im wondering if maybe i'm missing something. is there another amp that fits this criteria for around a grand? up to $1500 is ok. even a single channel amp is cool, i'd just add a clean boost or some other boost pedal.

what do you guys think? is there such an amp out there that can make the cut? all tube, 212, reverb/drive on the footswitch, effects loop.

id like to get a USA made amp if possible, to go with my USA strat.

i would keep the deville.. is there a way to rig up a 3 button fender foot switch to drive on/off, more drive, reverb?

the hot rod has a 2 button switch for drive on/off, more drive.

can i turn the watts down from a twin reverb and boost the clean channel into overdrive naturally?

Egnater Renegade.

It has the features you want, plus switchable between 65/18 watts on each channel as well as tube mix between 6L6 and EL34 on each channel. Also has 2 master volumes and the second master is foot switchable - so it effectively works as a lead boost.

It's manufactured in China but built like a tank - Bruce Egnater made no compromise in quality.

Peavey or Traynor might have something in your price range.

Z Amps are like Dumbles or Trainwrecks and such without the huge price tag. They are more pricey than your average Guitar Center amp, but well worth it.
I would look for a used one - expect to pay between $1,100 to $1,300 for one that would do what you want. Here is the Z Forum where you can get all kinds of info:

iv looked into all the egnater gear and that stuff is sweet. guitar center in KC has a lot of stuff, but the reverb is digital. i was looking for sweet 'old school' pure fender tube awesomeness.

heres another quick question, is there a way to modify a twin reverb's power output? maybe remove tubes? iv heard of this being done but have never experimented with it. i assume it would cause some problems. anyways, what do you think about getting maybe a clean boost with a twin reverb? i know it doesnt have the effects loop, but the vibrato would be nice.

btw, i only have a few pedals.. tuner, boost, compressor.

i like my tone to be as natural sounding as possible, no fake drivers, no crazy phases, etc. just natural tube overdrive and sweet reverb.

What about a Fender Pro Tube Twin it has all the things that you covet and a switch to change power from 100w to 25w.

I have an Egnater Rebel 20 that has no reverb and I don't miss it at all. You're right they are built like tanks with no compromises. If I want reverb, I'd just get an external unit. The Rebel is outrageous in the tone department. I run mine with two Egnater 112 cabs and the whole rig has been bulletproof the whole 7 months I've been running it. The digital reverb isn't really bad on the Egnater amps for being digital. I was pretty surprised.

I was in several bands in the sixties and seventies in Sheffield England and always used Vox amps.
When I stopped gigging and got married I could never afford the gear I wanted but when my wife left me I went mad and bought a Squier Stratocaster and a Musicman amp.
I saw this amp in a music shop in Sheffield and got myself in hock for it, it was £300.
I'm still paying for it, what with the debts my ex-wife left for me to clean up and so on.
I have a picture of it somewhere, I will try and dig it out.
I still have it and my new wife whooppeee!, puts her keyboard through it.
I bought this recently and it needs a bit of attention but I aim to use it for my Strat...
Image
Until the picture problem is sorted it is a Peavey TKO 115S.
