Stompin' Tom!!!

(He would kick a hole right through the piece of plywood he stands on every show. he had to start using it, because he was damaging stages.)

My Stompbox is too bright. Would a Rosewood footpad help? :P

I saw some random guy using something similar last year. He was just an acoustic guy, and he had a mic'd piece of cardboard on the ground that he stomped on. Sounded really cool actually.

Those have actually been out for some time. They are for one man acoustic acts.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

There's a Canadian country/folk entertainer-Stompin' Tom Connors- whose trademark is a piece of 2 ft sq. 3/4 plywood that he "stomps"on while playing.
(edit)I just noticed that Twelvebar mentioned Stompin' Tom in a previous post.BTW Tom wrote a song about hockey that's gotten a lot of airplay.

Don't knock those Wooden Stompers... many country and folk artists use them. Its more of an acoustic guitar accessory.

Guitslinger, Stompin' Tom was the very first musician I saw live in concert. I was maybe 3 or 4 years old, and my grandfather took my brother and I to see him during some kind of little town festival. I barely remember much, except it was at the Legion( the only place in town big enough for anyone to play,), and I remember getting to inspect the plywood with the hole kicked into it afterward. i want to say we met him, but i was so young and the memory is fuzzy at best. I have a hard time remembering stuff from 15 years ago, let alone 35 or so!!

From WIKI -

"John Lee Hooker rarely played on a standard beat, changing tempo to fit the needs of the song. This often made it difficult to use backing musicians who were not accustomed to Hooker's musical vagaries: As a result, Besman would record Hooker, in addition to playing guitar and singing, stomping along with the music on a wooden pallet."

I'd like to try one, just to keep the drummer wondering!
