I had a Charcoal Frost 2006 MIA Strat which I was trying to sell for a while with no bites. I decided to trade it for something else

It's a 1999 MIA Strat with maple neck; I've been trying to determine the color, as it changes in the light and in the camera. I believe it to be an Ocean Turquoise, but it could be a Lake Placid Blue...it definitely has a greenish tint to it and looks like the ocean turquoise on the Curtis Novak website.
It came really dirty, especially the neck, so the first thing I did was take off the old strings, remove some of the remaining small plastic pieces around the knobs and screws, and then remove the back plate which still had the original plastic over it...yay....clean spot  The frets could use some work on them, so I'll probably take it in.
I've been using Virtuoso Cleaner and Polish on my guitars as they do a really fine job. Now it is clean and I'm waiting to hear back from the former owner about string gauge that was on there.[/img]

Now that is one nice coloured guitar.

I was looking at the Charcoal frost and thinking, "WHY, WHY, its stunning".

Then I saw what you'd replaced it with.

Riley, I took them off...they were pretty much dead and I had to clean it. The neck was filthy. I have some Elixir Polywebs to put on, 10s.

Very nice!
I see alot of metallic in that paint. That would explain the color change in different lighting.
I also have a 1999 MIA Strat, (Purple Metallic) that changes colors in different lighting.
They must have been experimenting with "metallics" that year.
I pulled out the literature from when I ordered mine, and on the color chart for that year they offered "#74 Aqua Marine" on the American Standards. So I'll bet that's your color. :P

Was the only thing wrong with the 1st gittar the color?

I'm asking 'cause, it's interesting that you found some one that liked the charcoal more than the blue, assuming it was a straight trade. What a great big world of opportunities we live in, if so.

I like your new axe better, too. The pickguard is real nice. Does it sound the same as the charcoal, or different? Different good.
