I was going to claim my earnings from playing several years ago figuring that I would come out on top as I put every cent I earned back into gear. The tax consultant said that if I did that I could get a good chunk of it back "but" I had to also give the names of other band members who didn't put their money back into music. When I found out that they could be nailed I decided against it.

You're a good soul. I've known many that have given names and other personal info. It's a crazy bidness...this showbiz!
