Hey Ya'll,
Well, after watching the SRV "Tin Pan Alley" video in another thread, I starting looking around for some Johnny Copeland stuff on YT and...well, one thing let to another and I ended up with this one... Buddy Guy and friends doing a rather "loose" version of Stormy Monday.

Now I have to say here that I've been a fan of Mr. Buddy Guy for a very long time. I not only love his music and the way he plays but I really love watching this guy too...he just looks like he -really- enjoys himself on stage...like there's no other place in the world that he'd rather be. I just can't watch a Buddy Guy video and not smile! He's not only a wonderful and legendary guitar player but he's simply a wonderful showman and entertainer.

What actually got me to this video is that woman singing there is actually Shemekia Copeland, Johnny's daughter and a wonderful blues singer in her own right! What's really great about this video though is the way they do Stormy Monday...

Ok...anyone who's ever done some blues at a "jam night" at a local bar has probably played this tune...it really seems to be a jam night standard. Now most of the time, even at a jam night it's always seemed to me that folks tend to take themselves just a little too seriously...this video is a wonderful reminder that a big part of playing music and playing the blues is simply about "having fun" and sometimes just "going with the flow"...do make sure you watch both parts of it!
