Peavey used to make a 12 volt amp called the Decade back in the early 80s,I have one and it's a gutsy little amp that plugs into your lighter but also has an AC plug.I've seen them on ebay for around 80 or 90 bucks.

Don't know. Pignose has a few battery powered amps and I think at least one is rechargeable. Electro Harmonix used to have the Mike Mathews Freedom amp years ago. First Act had a deal with Volkswagen that turned a Beetle into an amp. They have step up transformers to go from 12 to 120 volts, but I'm not sure if you need a true sine wave converter to run and amp. Maybe Art might know.

Hi Jtrevi1965, and welcome to the forum!

The Roland Micro Cube has a 9V DC input. You could easily find an adapter that would enable you to use it in the car.

It will run on 6 AA batteries as well. I've had one of these for over two years. It's a great little amp, and it puts out some serious noise. 8)

Saw a guy in a Hen tricks tribute band a few years back. He ran 2 JTM45's off car batteries. Zero amp hum apparently.
You need to change the power transformer out for something else though I dont know what. A valve amp takes AC power and converts it to DC, cos AC is readily available. In a perfect world all valve amps would be powered by DC/batteries.

There are AC/DC Converters that allow you to plug into a cigarette lighter and let you plug in standard house type plugs. They come in different ratings so check them carefully.

I have one that I use for Laptops and such. They work great!!!

+1 on what Feathers said there. I actually have a 200 watt DC to AC converter...rather low powered and it's actually got enough juice to run my little Peavey Backstage Plus. When I was selling one of those little Squier Bullets last year I took it with me because I was meeting the buyer in the parking lot of a donut shop (don't ask...it was weird for me too) and I wanted to be able to demonstrate the guitar for the guy since he was buying it for his kid.

Obviously as Feathers said you will want to watch the wattage rating and compare that with the wattage your amp draws...remember that if your amp has something like a 40 watt output, chances are it actually -draws- a good 150-200 watts from the outlet...make sure you leave yourself some headroom.

Also if you use a higher wattage unit and should you intend to do a small parking lot "concert" and play for a couple of hours, make sure you bring your jumper cables with you! Car batteries don't usually hold out that long. AAA is always a plus too :-)

Peace,
Jim

Like I said, I'd check to see if you need a true sine wave converter if you plan to run a tube amp. And like Chet said, be sure to get one with enough wattage to support the current draw of the amp. Guitar amps are a little different car stereos.
