A buddy of mine was telling me today that he was on the Gibson Forum and there was a link to an interview of Malmsteen and in it he says he's never listened to Hendrix because he's all noise. He also stated that he too could play blues and demonstrated by just slowing down one of his 20 note a second riffs-a real joke.I always knew that he had a monumental ego but to discredit the most innovative guitarist the rock world has seen and probably will see is just too much even for him.I'll email my buddy and see if I can get the link.Jimi had talent and soul that was even greater than Malmsteens ego.Malmsteen plays with less soul and emotion than a computer, that's why he can't play blues worth a pinch of rat excrement.

Hendrix was always smiling because he heard the music in his head he wanted to record. He was always thinking of the next project. A true visionary and musician.

Well, I guess he can have an opinion too... I wonder if Malmsteen wants to hear my opinion of him :?

Have you seen the video of him with his guitar collection? He's got them stacked like firewood. He shows the interviewer what is supposedly one of the first ten Stratocasters ever made, and he just pulls it out of a pile, and just drops it back when he's done. They are, after all, his guitars and he can do what he wants, but I wish he'd show a little respect for historically important instruments.

Oh well. It simply demonstrates what he thinks of anything that isn't about him.

Found it!

Is it just me or does that buffoon look more and more like meatloaf everytime I see him?

Boring has been trying to use controversy to help revive his ever dwindling career.

I didnt mean that to read as though Meatloaf is a buffoon with a dying career.

I like Meaty, no one rocks like the Loaf.

Jimi took the guitar, and music to a place it had never been before.
I remember my jaw hitting the floor the first time I heard Jimi play !!!!
Malmsteen and Lynch have made similar comments, Lynch going so far
as to call Jimi a poser. Lets see, I don't own a single one of their albums,
however own everything I have ever found available from Jimi (Including Valleys of Neptune EP, and full length).
I have to admit I do find Malmsteen's playing ability incredible, his ego has ruined the thought of ever buying one of his albums for me.
20 years from now Jimi will still be on the charts, and people will be saying, George who and Yngwie what ? What goes around, comes around.

I really don't enjoy shred guitar and playing fast just for the sake of playing fast. He's entitled to his opinion but to me he's crossing a line. I don't care who you're bashing there is a classy way to do it.

Whoever was conducting that interview should have followed that response with:
"Well then how did you learn 'Spanish Castle Magic' which you covered on your Trial By Fire: Live In Leningrad album/CD in 1989 if you never listened to Hendrix?"

Spanish Castle Magic has been covered by several other artists since the 1990s, but other than a cover version in the early 80s by punk band MDC on their Millions of Dead Cops self titled debut album, I cannot find any mention of another cover of "Spanish Castle Magic" until Yngwies in 1989...and I know Yngwie probably is less likely to listen to punk than Hendrix...though the interviewer, if in person with Yngwie, may have been afraid to ask that question, cause Yngwie might have pulled a gun on him...

But then again, Yngwie I believe has also stated that Ritchie Blackmore was never an influence of his either, which we all know is pure BS...

Bottom line, Yngwie has a major rectal-cranial disorder...for those of you who don't know what that means, its basically a person is suffereing a clog in their lower extremity due to their upper extremity being inside it.

It is funny..I am not a Hendrix fan,but that does not mean I would trash his music...it is just not my style. Malmsteen..he can play a billion notes a second...to me...well...not mu cup of tea but I won't bag on the guy. I feel that it is not only a matter of ego but of insecurity. Some folks who have all this talent for some unknown reason are really insecure and they feel better when they bash others. Kind of have to feel sorry for the guy.

Sometimes you just have to appreciate the music and forget about the personalities.

The phrase is:

"Yngwie Malmsteen can do anything with a guitar except play music."
