If you got the Fender email (eJamming) and you're setup and testing it, I have a session open....cmon and jam :

The session is called "MiamiMike's Jam Session"

I have 3 seats open currently....

The drummers and bass players are wicked loud....the other guitar players are okay, but unless you limit your session to 1 or 2 seats, it turns into a trainwreck.

You can spot the guys that have been doing it for awhile....their sound is real clear.

It takes some time, but 4 techs are on standby to help.

I jammed with a bass player from Detroit and another guitarist and it went well until a drummer came in....real LOUD!

All in all it's a pretty cool idea once everyone gets their clear sound and doesn't jam the volume. You need to be able to hear everyone in your session.

There were approx 20 sessions going on when I left (worldwide).

It's best if you have a small mixer with a microphone plugged in - - that way you can talk and hear each other - - some just have their instruments in and have to type to communicate.

It IS pretty cool though!!!

It is cool, but the sound quality depends on your internet speed and monitors or speakers, of course.

It sounds like a few have slow connections and they "break up" while trying to jam. But mostly it's just a wide variety of musicians from all over the world that want to jam in real time.

You have two options, to just jam "live" or to record a backing track and jam with others to that.

Plenty of "live" online help.

Basically you'll need to set your preferences so that it detects your USB interface....and then you can join a current jam or start your own.

I think the idea is great! I'd join you but no other human will hear my guitar playing for at least a couple more years.

I've been thinking this could possibly revolutionize guitar instruction once the kinks are worked out and there are no issues (sounds like there might be a few) The instructor and student(s) could be from different parts of the world! Awesome!

I'm kinda clueless to the guitar/computer thing, what kind of interface do you need?

Actually, do you mind listing everything you need to take part?

You need at a minimum, an audio interface. This can be a USB interface or a PCI sound card.

i.e. - http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PODStuGX/

For maximum enjoyment, a small mixer and microphone will allow you to talk to the others in the various 'sessions'. These are usually named, such as :

Joe's Bluesjam
Matter's Rock On Jam
HTM's Beginner's Jam

...or you can start your own "session" and call it what you like.

What is it like a online jam session or something?

That's it exactly. You can join an ongoing session or start your own and decide how many "seats" you want in your session.
