Yeah, there's no difference at all, unless maybe you have a Guitar Center store nearby...

Depends on what I'm buying. If I don't need/want to try it out, I use MF because they have a bigger inventory. My local GC doesn't always have everything in stock. It gets a lot of traffic so the inventory turns quickly and the run out of stock on popular items.

I've purchased guitars from:

guitartrader.com
samash.com

Didn't have any problems with the purchases. New strings, tuning and minor setup changes and both were good. Fit and finish on both were very nice.

I've ordered cables, pedals, audio-interfaces, keyboards, etc from:

musicansfriend.com
sweetwater.com

And I haven't had any issues with their services. At the moment I've got an order in for a very sweet guitar strap from eyelandenterprises.com - I'm still waiting on that order so I can't say how happy I'll be.

I'll use the net to research what's a good price and then go over to the Guitar Center to buy it so I can play it and really check it out in person.

Good move. If you go in with all the facts, you can usually bargain with them for a better price.

They both suck.

You can get better pricing and learn more from a local shop. If you don't have a local shop just use sweetwater. You can talk them down on pricing and they actually know what they are talking about.
