Thanks Alain for bringing this historic date to our attention, I echo your sentiments. The guitar world would be a much different place if Leo Fender had never been in it. Guitarists are much better off because of him.

Without Leo we wouldn't have had Buddy,Jimi,Stevie,Eric,Jeff and countless others to look up to and influence us, the guitar world owes this great man a huge debt of gratitude.

It's refreshing to see people thanked for making a positive contribution to society.

Why not??? They would have played something different. They didn't always play Fenders. Jimi, SRV, Clapton and Jeff Beck played different guitars. Beck, Clapton and Hendrix all played Gibson at one point and I know SRV played Dano's from time to time and I'm sure Buddy played more than Strats. I was influenced by the music, not the Fender guitar.
Fender is a very different company today.

RIP Leo and thanks for your original designs, being a pioneer and form follows function attitude.

That explains why I was in such a bad mood on Friday! I couldn't put my finger on it but now I know. RIP Leo, Thanks for the wonderful instruments you have given to us, and for the Tone!

Hi 63 Supro,I'm well aware that all these players have played and could have played something else. The point I was trying to make was that these players were/are largely associated with Strats and that association would have not been possible without the monumental contribution Leo made to the guitar playing world.
