There are not many guitarists whose playing is as fluid as Joe's,he's certainly one of the smoothest players.My Jag certainly doesn't sound like his even though they're about the same vintage judging by the video(mid 60s?) I'd guess he's probably using either the neck pup alone or both with the tone rolled back quite a bit to get that mellow sound.Does anybody know if Fender was his amp of choice?My guess would be yes.

That's a great video, and shows that you can play jazz on a Jaguar or Jazzmaster. The video is from when Joe was at Synanon, by the way.
