I have heard that the non export Japanese fenders are great guitars and far better then the made for export Japanese fenders and for the most part on the par with American Fenders. They also create some models that are only non export that are really cool. Does anyone know how I could get my hands on a non export Japanese Fender? I tried Ebay but its kind of slim pickings.

Actually, Every japanese Fender I have played has been a great guitar. However, there are alot of models, and finish and accessory options that get held for the japanese domestic market only. Alot of them are reeeeaaaallly freakin' cool too. The japanese domestic Aerodyne series is pretty hot, for one. The 70' s Precision bass. The list goes on and on. They are out there, though. The problem is that the instruments are so nice that people don't part with them all that often.

It used to be possible to order from Japanese Music Stores and get them shipped to the U.S., However that practice has been stopped.

By Da Man!

They have their reasons and I believe they are legit ones. However, I sure would love to see an AVS 78' P bass to cure my jonesin' for one of those CIJ models. HINT!!!!!
