A couple of days ago I posted a thread about buying a 70s S S Traynor, what cemented the idea for me was CVilleira had no record of it so I figured it must be a rarity.Thankyou CV for clinching the deal,it's a little gem.I just gave the amp a test drive with my Jimmy Vaughn Strat and when she's opened out she's a little tone monster. It has just Volume Treble and Bass but the tone controls are very responsive and can vary the sound and volume greatly. It has a 3 position switch for high Medium and low drive and a normal and low input. The amp is supposedly a 79,the serial No. is 2061680 so if anyone knows their date codes it would be appreciated if you'd pass the info on.The amp has 2-8" speakers with no brand name but on the baskets are : 7435DWD ,there's letters and Nos. on the backs of the magnets but they're illedgeable but appears to be either HUN or NUN 31.Anyway for $100 I got a great little 15 W amp.I'll post pix when I get it cleaned up and my computer tech buddy drops by.BTW he also has a Fernandes 2 pup guitar that's a Jag/Tele shape with a Tele style neck pup and coil tap bridge humbucker and Strat style vibrato and sustainer for $250 if I buy that too,it's a Fuji-Gen and in near mint condition.Should I go for it?

I would!!

Congrats. Like I said in the other post, i love Traynor gear. Wish i still had my old Guitar Mate(stolen gear sucks   ) The Mark III I have in storage would get me evicted (it would be impossible to have it around here and not crank it up!!)

Hi CV ,the amp doesn't say made in Canada as such but the serial No. plate just says Yorkville Sound Toronto Canada.I didn't think that Traynor had any amps made outside Canada in that era,I could be wrong but I thought all the older models were Canadian made.

Thanks donmac,I had already looked in on the Traynor site and found some interesting info on the amp:the TS-15 stands for Transistor series 15 W and the 3 position switch which I thought was a tone shaper is in fact a master voume of all things,I was wondering why I was getting a volume drop when I changed the settings and apparently it's to give you gobs of distortion at low volume. The write up said that it was a small amp with a big sound-they certainly got that right.I only wish I still had my Custom Reverb and Mark III they were amazing amps and I didn't appreciate it at the time, that's why I never part with gear any more.BTW around the 75-77 timeframe Pete Traynor figured that tubes may become more and more difficult to obtain and began to concentrate on designing solid state amps that had a convincigly tube-like sound not like the sterile sound SS amps of the era had. When he released the first TS amps in 79 he acheived that goal, the TS-15 was released in 80 there were TS amps all the way up to 200W and SS amps up to 375(Mono Block Bass Amp) it looks like I'm going to have to start picking up more old Traynor gear to go with this one and my 67 Guitarmate.

Hello guitslinger, it would be nice to see a picture of your new amp. Trying to visualize it! 2 - 8" speakers?
