I know I will get flak but St. Anger by Metallica. I was going through a very difficult time and this song kept me from seeking bloody revenge on a certain scum bag, POS who would have deserved what I had to give him.

"Changed" is a big word.

Likely, many songs "changed" this life in small ways, or perhaps more correctly, were "happening" when some life-event was.

But for this thread...

...Walk Don't Run, The Ventures, the "ultimate stimulus" to begin playing guitar.

in agreement with JSJH, in the beginning each song you learn changes your life, so again in agreement with our Bro, for this thread, "
...Walk Don't Run, The Ventures, the "ultimate stimulus" to begin playing guitar" and I would + Penetration by the Pyramids as I learned them both at the same time for the same gig.

"Give me up again" - Jonny Lang

Not really a life changer, but it helped me get through some things.

Aww I know, sad love stories...

"Shine A Light" by the Rolling Stones...I had an epiphany watching the sunrise during the winter of 1992, on the side of the highway in Fort Worth (after pulling yet another all-nighter with people who were just using me and had no respect for anyone--including themselves). I quit hanging out with those guys and asked my girlfriend (who did truly respect me and have my best interests at heart) to marry me the next day...we will be married 17 years on April 17th.

As far as "playing guitar" epiphanies, Hound Dog Taylor & The Houserockers' "Baby Don't Blame Me" made me realize that it didn't have to be smooth or pretty or even good technique, as long as the song rocks and gets your butt shakin'!

Little Wing- Hendricks, Showed me that great rhythm playing can be more important and fun than lead playing.
