So I'm going to get an acoustic guitar in the next few days and I'm just wondering if the Seagull guitars are good acoustic guitars or not, I don't know very much about hollow body guitars because I usually play solid body.

Thanks

From what I've seen they are made in Canada, they are works of art, and seem reasonably priced.
I have'nt played one so I can't say for sure. If you can play one ( they should be plentiful where you are ) That would be the best test.
Let us know if you decide on one. They do look like really nice guitars.-N 8)

They are Canadian. They aren't all works of art. I have played several i really really liked. I found one in the basement of a place i moved into, it was in poor shape and i didn't like it. However, that had to do with its dismal state rather than its design. They seem to have models across a lot of price points. They are generally well thought of.

Hi,
Seagull make a great guitar. If you are in the mood to compare brands, check out Takamine, I have been playing them for a while now, and haven't found a better sounding acoustic.
Just my opinion...

They are nice guitars. Also Seagull is one of the companies owned by Godin Guitars

All the Godin brands are great bang for your buck guitars--and Seagulls are no exception.

Personally I have a Simon & Patrick 12 string I love to play. S&P is one of the other Godin brands.
I've gone into stores looking at the 6 strings flat tops--as I don't have one (My acoustics are the 12 string and a classical.) And inevitably I am drawn to the S&P's and Seagulls. And I often prefer them to the more expensive guitars.

Then there are times I will play a more expensive guitar I like better (Such as Brredloves) but when I compare the prices, I think I'll go with one of the Godins. The other guitar sound better, but not four times better--which the price often is four times more before I find a guitar I like better.

I can't afford that, and the Godin ones still sound great.

I own 2 of them. An S-6 Original and an Artist Studio electric acoustic. The S-6 is a great guitar for the price. Has solid Cedar top with Wild Cherry back and sides. It ages fairly quickly and sounds better and better as it ages. Very plain to look at. It is well a built in Canadian guitar. Mine is the easiest acoustic to play that I have ever found. The Artist Studio is a beautiful guitar with solid Spruce top, Rosewood back and sides. It is aging more slowly although it has a thin gloss finish. It has a very balanced tone, but for me does not have the sparkle on the treble strings the way I like. I'm comparing it to my favorite acoustic which is a Gibson Dove. I wish I owned one of those. The S-6 has a wider neck than the Studio, wider than most other acoustics. I like both models a great deal, but for me the high end Studio is not bright enough. The electronics are very good also in the Studio. The S-6 is bare bones. Seagull has many models to choose from and they are very good guitars. If you are looking at the high end ones they are appox. 1,400 as opposed to a Gibson Dove at about 2,800.
