Yes you have a point mclmk8d but they are not Rock and Roll artist. Country has there own hall of fame and Hendricks and the Beatles are not gracing the walls. wtcumm00 you forgot to mention that rock immortal Madonna.

I am not a huge fan of the Stooges but I have no problem at all with there induction as they are Rock all the way. If I would of known heavy doses of hard drugs would keep your body shredded I might of done them, as Iggy has the same body he had 35 years ago.lol

Glad to see Iggy make it. He was long over due for sure.

On the other hand the Rock & Roll hall of Fame if a freekin’ joke. It has made a mockery of the entire industry and in my opinion is nothing more than a waste of good Lake front property.

Congrats you have been inducted into a hall that believes the following artists are rock and roll artists

Louis Armstrong
Chet Atkins
Jonny Cash
Aretha Franklin
Marvin Gaye
Bill Monroe
Run- D.M.C
Supremes
Hank Williams

What an E-ffing Joke

The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame also pays tribute and respect to artists from other genres who have influenced rock. If you don't believe people like Chet Atkins, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash had no influence on rock, then you need to open up your mind, eyes, and ears...As the doc on PBS says, it was called rockabilly before it was called rock n roll...Motown, jazz, blues, gospel...rock n roll is a melting pot of all these styles...RUN DMC, for better or for worse, may have been one of the first rap acts that many people were exposed to due to their collabortion with Aerosmith, and also for better or worse contributed to the birth of genre of rap rock/metal...which whether or not you like it, happened...

People want to act like rock n roll is some sort of pure-bred species from a well-to-do bloodline and pedigree, when in fact rock n roll is just the old mutt that has a little bit of everything in its bloodline...

Ok.. Rock and Roll has Roots in many places, jazz, R&B, country, Blues, and in some cases classical.

If you own an apple orchard and are picking apples to go to market; you surly don’t take the tree roots or even the tree with you. It’s a given the apples would not exist without the tree or its roots but the fruit the tree now bears is something different now. Rock & Roll is much the same as it is now greater than the sum if its parts.

I’m not saying that all who are in there already are not worthy of being in ” A” hall of fame but for some reason music has been broken into Genres and we are talking about the Rock hall.

I’m sorry but Run DMC, and Hank Williams are not Rock & Roll !!!!! I don’t care how much influence they have had. Like Capo said it’s the hall of fame not the hall of influence. (if it’s just a museum than call it the music museum or the music hall of fame); but once they put Rock and Roll into the title they boxed it into that genre.

It matters very little because the morons that run the thing don’t seem to be very in tune to the music industry but they are going to continue to do what they’re going to do. Its just frustrating for fans and rock artists alike…

Yeah!... I'm glad Iggy's in there. I wasn't a fan back in the day. But, that was because I didn't get it at first. Love The Stooges now. Especially Raw Power. Music is so dreadful today. Even the few newer bands that I like still don't give me the same feeling I got when I first heard bands like The Stooges, MC5, Mott The Hoople and even The Velvet Underground or The Patti Smith Group... Even if I didn't like the band that much, I still felt something. Most of today's music is just... eh!

As for "Cleveland Rocks"... Ian Hunter first recorded it as "England Rocks". I like both, mind you. Just thought I'd add my two cents to the trivia...

Iggy and the Stooges, do deserve to be in the Hall, as does Kiss who were on the ballot for this year but unfortunately, did not get inducted. Probably because they were never the critic's favorites to begin with. IMO, the fans and not the critics, should decide who gets inducted every year. There are so many artists out there who are not in and are a few who don't deserve to be in there. I'm talking about Madonna, Run DMC, ABBA. Here's who should be in;
1. Alice Cooper
2. Rush
3. Ted Nugent
4. Motley Crue
5. Mott The Hoople
6. Bad Company
7. Badfinger
8. Buddy Guy
9. Rufus Thomas
10. Heart
If any of these acts are already in the Hall, then please feel free to correct me, okay? Thanks!

I never really heard the Stooges. I loved the song Candy. Seriously; one of my favorite songs.

Yeah, Iggy and the Stooges deserve the recognition - their influence has spread across the world in the decades since their brief career, and they ROCKED!

Iggy would also have to be one of the very few musicians who doesn't suck as a film actor too.
