I've been considering giving up guitar....For a reason of course. The dystonia's getting unberable, I cant even get through one simple song without it stuffing up and going stiff to the point that i cant move it man. Its bloody driving me crazy!!!

....Your opinion??

Sorry, I'm new here. What exactly is "Dystonia"?

Riley,

I have what may be a similar condition in my right side - to many letters to post here. It gets really tough at times, but on the days that I can play what I feel in my heart; well it makes the bad days worth it.

Hang in there - when you feel like playing - tear it up! :D

Riley,

You will be in my prayers. I do know what it is like, and you are right, it IS frustrating.

Don't pack it in now Riley, you have devoted far too much time to the guitar to drop it now.Playing the guitar can actually help slow the progression of dystonia as it keeps the muscles and nerve endings stimulated. If you stop playing there's nothing to keep things stimulated and your condition will likely progress at a faster pace.Believe me I know only too well the frustration you are facing. With my arthritis my playing has deteriorated by at least 80% but I refuse to give up as I know the minute I do the condition will worsen rapidly. So buckle down and get your a5s in gear and pick up that guitar,it's therapeutic in more ways than one.

I plan to find some way to keep playing, no matter what--until I die.
