Went to look at a supposedly big spring cleaning sale at a very large music shop.
Their sale prices looked not good, even compared to what I thought my normal haunts have for regular prices.

So I had to head over to them to verify.
Guess that was the mistake, came out with a Squire Custom Vibe 60's P-bass.
And I'm not a bass player so my fumbling should really annoy people for a while :)

It saw first light (or rather sound) jacked into a 400 watt bass amp at my brother in laws. In the hands of someone who could actually play bass :)
I'm pleased with what it can do!
Someday I might actually be able to knock out a rhythm without missing the long stretches on its frets

Good job. Whenever I hear a great bass line. I wish I could do it. McCartney, Mark King, Rick Danko, etc.

But, it would be time away from the guitar, so......

Still, it's just so cool.

Hopefully pics to come soon,
first I have to install a new kitchen counter and sink before bad things happen to me. :)

I always thought about being able to put down my own rhythm track when attempting recordings. That might take a while yet though. :D

It's never a mistake to buy a new guitar unless you're spending the grocery money for it,even then if you only have yourself to feed it's OK.

Just wait until the rent/morgage, car, insurance, electric, and phone bills become yours to pay. Getting payed does not mean you can afford anything you want, often it is a game of give and take.

I guess for Tochai that would be anywhere from 3-8 years 5 months and 29 days from now. Enjoy these years, they are the most care-free you you ever have.

Get paid :?:
I'm a self employed photographer.
I get paid for any sales and contracts I can close.
No daily hustle to get new business means no work which means no pay.
And right now the whole imaging industry is in a bit of a slump like most other businesses in this recession.

Been a long time since my old comfortable position in IT got off-shored and I could rely on someone sending me a regular pay check.

Skool proved useful for me, I went through for photography back when people actually still used film. And I was able to translate it to today's needs.

If I can do it anyone can :!:
I firmly believe you can no longer rely on any company to provide a regular pay check.
IMHO: if you have a skill or can acquire one you are much better off marketing and selling yourself!
It's is a bit scary but you are not always waiting your turn on the next chopping block.

Congrats on the new Bass. I love the Squier CV series. One of the best low-budget guitars I have played in years. If it is as good as the CV 60 Stratocaster I have, it should give you a lot of good memories to come.

I bought a CV 60's jazz bass for my studio and I love it. It was purchased so I could add bass tracks to my original material. With that bass and a drum machine I can write and arrange material into some very decent demos by myself and then recruit some real drummers and bass players when it is time to record the finished product.

It is not hard to get hooked on bass playing. I have been a guitarist for 35 years and never picked up a bass prior to owning this one but this is a lot of fun.

As a matter of fact I liked it so much I purchased a CV 50's Tele for work.

Yes exactly my thinking that prompted this impromptu purchase.

With Hydorgen for creating drum tracks,
Reaper & Cubase for mixdown of tracks from my little 4 track.
and now this CV P-bass I should be able to do some real damage.

Of course I sliced off the top of my left index finger working on that counter top/sink I mentioned earlier. Makes trying to play anything interesting at the moment.
