Hi, I'm Dillon, and I'm pretty begginer (And I'm no expert, so bear with me and my ignorance). Right now I'm playing a Palmer Acoustic/Electric guitar, but I wanna move on to an electric guitar for the wider range of effects they have to offer, but I've gotten kind of stumped on what to pick.

My favorite band is Phish, and I would like a guitar that makes a sound similar to Trey's crisp, vibrant, bright playstyle, but I want the versility to be able to play a more grungy/hard rock tune, so I was looking into Fender for the different genres I've seen them span. But there are very few Fenders that fit my price range.

Being a begginer, I'm not willing to spend much more than $700-$800, and thats where you guys come in, I was hoping you could direct me to a good guitar for that price. Just now I was looking at the Paul Reed SE Custom 24, which seemed to fit what I wanted, and the Telecaster Thinline, for the hollowbody tone.

Once again, sorry if I sound like I have no clue what I'm talking about, because I really dont.

Thanks for your help, Dillon

my best advice would be to go play your choices and see which you like best.... also check out a mustang if you can because the smaller neck makes learning much easier and the tone is great.... not real heavy, but the right amp or a distortion pedal can fix that

tele thinlines are great guitars. they can give you a whole range of tones.
you should also look into strats, they are the most versital guitars and they come in so amny different variations.

i would say definately look into a strat.

Dude go to your local store and check out some mexican strats or a tele deluxe. if your looking for the puchy sound of a humbucker but also like single coils check out an hss strat i have one that is awesome. and nothing is better than two humbuckers dropped in the tele deluxe. both are mexica made but sound awesome and are great for the price.

And remember YOU DONT PICK THE GUITAR THE GUITAR PICKS YOU. GO WITH YOUR INSTINCT AND CHOSE THE ONE YOU LOVE THE BEST

i agree with rock god.

check out those hss strats. you should look into the new american select strats. they are right at the top of your price range but they are pretty amazing and they are MIA.

For your $700-$800 you can get a decent new guitar. Or a really nice used guitar that someone else has upgraded. Or a nice used guitar with enough money left over for an amp. I'd check out the used selections first.
