Just a quick tidbit for you Forumites: yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of the modern era Fender (also known as the "post-CBS" era by many). Naturally this is largely a corporate milestone so you won't see a huge amount of fanfare about it from us, but for you 'insiders' it's still quite noteworthy and worthy of a tip of the hat! Those familiar with the story know that the firm was right on the brink of extinction when the late Bill Schultz and Bill Mendello (current Fender CEO) led a group of investors to purchase the firm from CBS on March 12, 1985 -- and in so doing they began an all-out Renaissance era for Fender in which all existent practices in regard to instrument manufacturing, quality control, marketing, etc., were completely revitalized. The Fender as we know it today is what it is because of the vision and ambition these two fine gentlemen!

My hat's off to them for putting Fender back in the limelight after CBS almost scuttled the brand.

I, for one, profoundly acknowledge and am grateful for their vision and ambition. Additionally, I'd like to point out that it is the rank-in-file employees whose pride, dedication and diligence in and to their work ethic make such things a reality and sustain them, ever improving. I'm sure I speak for virtually all of us here when I say that you and the rest of your co-workers deserve a hearty pat on the back for a job well done as well!

My drummers gonna be stoked, its his birthday. I'm just back from plying him with ale. He's always insisting I play my strat, reckons anything else just doesnt sound like my black strat.

Good taste must be a prerequisite of being born on the 12th of March.

Happy 25th Fender.
