So I haven't been on in a while. But I've had the time to explore some music and discover some new facets by which I can examine the world and music and everything in general. That being said, the one artist that I've discovered recently is Jeff Buckley; yeah, he's not really new but he was a genius and I'd never truly given his music a chance and finally did and, to put it blatantly, I fell in love all over again.
This man's work...I've never heard anything like it. Sure, there's hints of Zeppelin and Morrisey in there, but it's just so...unique. And astounding. And, in all honesty, frightening. I mean, come one...how can one man produce something that can be so incredible and groundbreaking and distinct, and then all of a sudden die in a freak drowning accident? I mean, doesn't that scare anyone other than me?
But here's the thing: he's forgotten. Like SRV. And all the other great ones that have slipped past our stream of consciousness when it comes to music that really matters and is what it's supposed to be: fantastic.
That being said, I feel the need to start something of a revival of his music; not just Hallelujah or the ones that everybody already knows; the depth of his music; everything that made an impact that nobody remembers.
So let's go for it, huh? Let's all see what we can do to bring him back through our music. Show him now what he really means to us and the way that he's changed us and our music.

...oh, and I think I'd like to see a signature model or a tribute model based on his Tele sometime.

And that's really all I got for rite now.

i agree with 100% he inspired me to start writing songs, his music is awesome. If you haven't already, get his Live At Sin-e performance. Grace is an awesome album and the title fits the music of the album, just pure grace. Plus there's gonna be a documentary on him entitled "Mystery White Boy" James Franco (Harry Osbourne from Spider-Man) is gonna play Jeff

I'm about to get his LIve at Sin-e show and probably break it from listening to it for the rest of my life. Grace has absolutely changed me though. It is beyond incredible. I couldn't believe the depth that was there the first time I heard it all the way through. It's just so perfect, honestly.

Now, about the movie...would you mind giving me some extra info on it? The sites that I've looked at so far have little to no good information on it and I'm curious to see what all you've heard. Where did you hear that Franco was playing Jeff?

There is nothing better than discovering a talent that has slipped by you and discovering a vast wealth of incredible music when checking out there back catalog . To be honest outside of a few songs I do not know much of his music. But after this thread you can count me in on taking a listen.

I can safely say that I've listened to Grace as an album about ten times this week. No kidding, either.

his music and lyrics were both haunting and beautiful at the same time, one of my all-time favorite artists. emphasis on the word "artist".

Artist pretty much sums it up though, don't ya think? I mean it's just so specific and poignant. Impenetrable. And man, he was just that.

Fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. "Tim Buckley - Honey Man"...You can hear and see the resemblances of Tim and his son, Jeff. Tim died at 28 of a heroin (long story of why and how - not a junky) overdose. Jeff died of drowning accident in the Mississippi River at 30. Both R.I.P.
