Being a chef I am always curious to hear from various folks what they like to sit down to chow on the most.

I have cooked almost every type of food. I have also cooked for quite a few famous people.
I am classically trained and love to cook for my friends. I get them to try some things they didn't know they would like.
I love sushi uni, tuna, etc...and will try ANY food at least once.

Out of all the exotic foods I cook, An extra cheese and peperoni pizza with diet Pepsi and Reese's cups for desert is my favorite.

Being we have Forum contributers from all over the place I would really like to hear what your favorite meal is.-N 8)

A nice grilled salmon (especially with one of my GF's terrific marinades or sauces), though bacon-wrapped scallops is a close second. Add a smoky chardonnay or maybe sauvignon blanc in summer ... mix in live music courtesy of me, and it's heaven.

But there's a lot to be said for the above mentioned cheese and pepperoni pizza or thick juicy homemade burger and a German wheat beer too!

Hi BN: good thread!

We get very good quality local venison (by local I mean reared and butchered two miles away). I like to get some nice thick tender venison steaks and cook them very hot and fast, three minutes on each side, and then rest for a minimum of 15 minutes (the key bit).

Meanwhile I put together a port wine reduction with glace de viande made earlier from veal bones from the same farm/butcher. Add some nicely al dente steamed seasonal vegetables - and the evening is mine!

Homemade bayleaf icecream to finish (strange but true: try it...).

Howzat?

:D - C

Fresh cooked lobster with a bowl of our local butter melted to dip the lobster in-pure ambrosia. When lobster is out or season it's BBQ ribs cooked slow and low over charcoal. The best ribs I've ever tasted(and I've had many)were at The Rendezvous in Memphis Tenn. ,it's worth the airfare to have them.2nd place would go to Peter Belbin's Steakhouse in St. John's NL but they've closed unfortunately and no one here knows how to do ribs especially these so called speciallity chains.

crab legs and steak.

there's a great place near our home, where every friday thet have an all-u-can-eat buffet, serving prime rib and crab legs. all for around 23 bucks.

i can usually eat about 2 lbs. of crab legs, and 1 hunk of prime rib. i don't eat the salad, potatos, or bread. then my wife gets the handcart, and they roll me to the car.

haven't been there in a while...time for a trip

I know it sounds weird, but you've gotta try this;

Big pancake, with lots of crunchy bacon inside it, with 5 runny eggs on top, lots of maple syrup.

I'll post a pic when i can.

Wow! From the sounds of it ... well worth the heart attack I'd have from eating like that! Good thing it isn't breakfast time here in LA.

Reminds me of band days. Growing up in a small upstate NY city, there wasn't much open by the time you'd finish a gig in most bars. But one place was Uncle Henry's Pancake House -- one of maybe three late night spots within a 50 mile radius. They had the greatest chocolate chip pancakes (big too) and not overdone bacon. That was my post-gig thing on many a Friday and Saturday night.

Terrific "show" (in the "they only come out at night" sense) too for while you were eating.
