I have GAS, but I don't have GAS.

I'm always on the lookout for Left Handed MIJ Strats. There are a couple of models I would still like to have, however I'm not letting it consume me. If I find them and have the money I will probably buy them. If I don't find them it's no big deal.

No known cure for GAS it's like any other disease like diabetes etc.,you have to adapt and learn how to live with it.

While the right brand name, you got the wrong type of Gas X...This is the one you need:

That is the correct one. Thank you for pointing out my error; though mine is definitely used after the wife or GF sees the bill for your GAS attack

G.A.S. is incurable. Even if you buy a Custom Shop model there will be another G.A.S. pain. Keep in mind the more guitars you have, the more difficult it is to thoroughly get to know each one of them. I know this because I have 10 guitars and sometimes have trouble deciding which is my favorite and I still get G.A.S. I have a considerable amount of money invested and for me it is just a hobby. To top it off, although I have played for a long time, I dont feel like my playing skills warrant the amount of gear I have for use as a hobby. Good thing my wife is so supportive of my guitar habit.

+1, no matter how many guitars or what guitars you buy, it wont go away man! No guitar in this world is the perfectest for you, or anyone for that matter. Plus, why would you wanna get rid of it, (as a guy says on here in his signature, dunno his name but hes cool); GAS is your friend!

Yeah I see nothing else I want. Ok I'd like a giggable les paul, I'm just not prepared to pay £1800 for something of the same quality as an American Standard strat. I'd rather using my LP copy. There may be a powersupply coming as my bass player recently did the dissolution a music shop and got paid in product. Theres a pedal board winging its way to me for free (I am the luckiest bloke on the planet). So maybe I'll need a powersupply for pedals. I reckon batteries will serve better if the thing doesnt need the pedals to be fixed directly to it.

I've needed a decent speaker for ages. My old 4x12 had been knocked about that much, when you struck a low E the top of the thing would wobble from side to side. Vintage30 speakers are £60 each, theres 4 of em, some nice blonde tolex and marine grade ply. The things costing me £120. I sold the speakers out of my old cab for £70.
Heres the cab, ignore the head.

I do have a cure. I have a couple beautiful Teles and a Strat. Tonight I was on the AMS website looking at a beautiful AM Standard Strat I have been GASing for. My Awesome wife is sitting next to me and asks me..well...are you just going to look at it or are you going to buy it?? When do you plan to get it. She is always like that and in many ways it takes the GAS away, because I know I can get it whenever I want it. So I am going to wait for a while longer..:)

The other great cure for gas is my missus.

I'll hire her out to you, if you like. After a few months of 'the look', you will tremble and cringe at the thought of buying more gear.

My wife is no help.

Last purchase happened when I killed 3 rattlesnakes in the back yard. She felt bad for me (I hate snakes) and told me to just go and buy the guitar I was looking at. She also likes the way they look hanging on the wall.

Ever considered wifeswapping?(JK)
I can kill snakes all day long, I hate em. Just give me a shovel and a promise and the back yard would look like some kind of serpent charnel house. 3 snakes = 1 guitar. I'd even go to the petshop and buy some snakes just to give em the chop.

Have been married 21 yrs and have considered wife swapping on many occasions :D She has her moments though and I always subscribe to the "devil you know" theory.

So far as the snakes go, I scream like a little girl every time I get surprised by one which is fairly often since I ride a mountain bike in Socal.

best advice ever on that. can't love anything (or anybody for that matter) that you don't take the time to know. as far as gear goes, if you don't love it, sell it and stash the cash away to buy what you really want.

only alternative cure is a bottomless bank account, but meaningless stuff wont fill the hole.

Niki offered up the best advice-stop buying magazines and the likes that will expose you to new gear. I also notice if I stay off of ebay it helps. For someone only playing two years you have enough and more quality gear than most steady gigging guitarist. Maybe you should dig in and really start focusing in now on being the best player you can be. Besides spending $100 on 5 technique DVDs will be a lot cheaper than a new ax and will keep you busy for a year.
