Hi Solid Body, we keep some in the med. cabinet. Works well too.

8) The fingertips on my fretting hand tend to get painful splits in them when the skin is on the dry side, usually when I'm playing. I find that New Skin does the trick - closes the split and lets it heal, and forms a solid cover over it that allows me to play with no discomfort (PS - do not try the generic brand; it simply does not work as well). Never heard of Dermabond, but I'm going to search it out and give it a try.

I would rather super glue a minor cut than go to emergency. I had a couple moles removed by a sub par "doctor" from a country I had never heard of.

Looks like I have been shot in the chest now (which is cool).

I could have did the job with a butter knife and some super glue. Maybe also add some duct tape for good measure.

Edit: Don't actually do that at home, they could be cancerous!

Wasn't super glue originally created to close wounds on the battlefield? I have used it more than once myself.

that's a +whatever the count is now on the superglue.
ever notice the warning on the label "bonds skin instantly"? that was on purpose. the stuff was designed by doctors looking for a replacement for sutchers.
chet, i did the same thing some time ago. had just heard the "superglue" tale from a doctor friend of ours, so i did the diy with the wound using the glue. healed nicely, no problems.

Whoops Cyanoacrylate AKA super glue, AKA crazy glue, and many other names was invented at Kodak labs in 1942 while trying to create a clear plastic for gun sights. Not successful, but many other useful uses resulted.

Also it reacts not well with some materials like cotton.

For a cut on soft skin (like your arm, leg, etc--not someplace tough like heels, etc), after cleaning it thoroughly, put some ground cheyenne pepper on the wound. It will burn like Gehenna, but it will stop the bleeding and seal up the wound.

I ran through a barbed wire fence on a motorcyle when I was a kid, and sliced the heck out of my arm. We were out in the middle of nowhere (Palo Pinto, Texas), so my aunt just cleaned me up and put the cheyenne in the cuts (short pause for screams  ) and they just sealed themselves up. The cuts should have had stitches, but they never bled or anything.

I don't think it would work for a fingertip if it is split due to dry skin, but it would probably work for a sliced fingertip...just don't rub your eyes!
