Ninja: I don't believe I've ever come across someone who is a bigger Peter Green admirer than you. You deserve that guitar. You NEED it!!!

At this moment there is two days and 23 hours to run on that sale, and so far no bids. If you are convinced it is the real deal (are you?) I propose that we have a Forum whip round and see if we can't raise the cash to buy the guitar and then place it in your safe keeping.

Not charity: it will remain the property of us all in proportion to the amount we contribute. As and when you decide to sell it we all get paid and take a profit from the no doubt spectacular rise in value over the years in between. It's a good time to be buying, after all.

And you get to play Peter Green's Les Paul for as long as you feel like.

This is how it is sometimes done with famous Stradivarius violins for deserving fiddle players. Why not with an electric guitar?

Price at this moment: £13,995 / $21,083. Put me down for a grand.

Seriously.

Cheers - C

I'll sort you a upload out when I can. My laptops busted and I'm using this machine thats powered by mice on a treadwheel. I think it needs upgrading to a hamster. Got the facebook message but cant remember my password.

Alanssaab

Had a hiccup with the Marlins tremblock, I'm on it and haven't forgotten about you mate.

Mhainz your as much to blame as the listing, if I buy it. Pete Green is the bigger part of the reason I started playing.

The worst part is I could really see me in tesco's carpark, pushing a trolley full of groceries dressed like that.

Replied via mail mate. Sorry I missed this. Duhh. That will tell you where my minds at over it all. Theres a million things running through my head at the moment.

Anyway I think seasonal ownership is more the way to go. Absence makes the heart fonder and all that. 3 months with you, 3 with me.

It looks to be in too good a condition for a 52. Theres interweb rumour about it having a 70 neck. Theres no real way for the thing to be properly validated as being that guitar.

Why when gary moore sold Greeny's 58/59 for 1.2mil is this thing up for £14K?

I suspect somethings not right or I've become over excited by a sales pitch.

Back to dreaming about it.

You know how it is, though... (heh.. I shouldn't fan the flames) a '59 is always going to be at the top of the pile.

The shop down the road from me has a lovely '59, yours for AUD $750K. There's a '55 goldtop on offer, too... asking price AUD $90K. The player (and he is a player, not a collector) who has that one on consignment reckons it's worth $30K, but I guess he won't object if it ends up selling for anything like the ticket price. So the owner is valuing his instrument at about 18,000 quid (now where is the "pound" sign here at work?!). In that light, 14K sounds like a decent starting price for a '52. There's no reason for interested parties to show their hand so early in the listing, either, unless they're concerned that the seller will withdraw due to lack of interest.
