Because it's well made, versatile and suited to just about any genre of music,it has a unique readily identifiable sound,it's very easy and comfortable to play,it's easy to do adjustments and upgrades on yourself, the parts of one will usually fit another in case of breakage,it's very sturdy,it comes in many colours and finishes,it comes in different models and price ranges so it's vey affordable,it's a great guitar to learn on yet to keep for life,it's easy to tune and keep in tune,it sounds and looks beautiful,it's perfection. Are these enough reasons?

Which Stratocaster? And I could not say they are all good! I have seen poorly made.

Also it's a modular guitar. Break a part? Just replace it with any of the billion of choices available.

A great electric guitar is one that has excellent quality, durability, aesthetics, reliability, feel, and has a vast nearly infinite range of musical tones that can be had given a skilled player is in command. The Fender Stratocaster satisfies every one of these criteria and then some. ^^

Stratocaster players only play stratosphere music located between 10 km (6 miles) and 50 km (31 miles) above the earth's surface.

Just like Telecaster players only play television music. That's why you've never seen a Stratocaster on TV. It just won't work. That's the rules, I tells ya.

Just kidding :P There are no rules when it comes to guitars, Fender or others. Strats are used for every style of music. Blues, heavy metal, funk, rock, rockabilly, country, etc, etc. Check out this link keeping in mind it's only the tippity top of the tip of the iceberg of well known Strat players.
