Count me in, man. Just be advised that there are severe Kurt haters here that never seem to pass on a good "let's bash Kurt" opportunity. You likely already gathered that. That's okay, though ... no one likes everybody (me very much included). The reason I like Nirvana is that they were the spearpoint of a new music movement with an emphasis on songwriting and having something to say. To me, it is that lack that makes so much of '80s hard rock pretty much unlistenable (albeit with exceptions such as Halen, GnR, Ozzy and Badlands). I lived in Seattle in the early '90s. There were great local bands playing all the time in small clubs like Rock Candy and the Off Ramp. It was an amazing time ... but -- as I said earlier -- not everyone has to get that. And don't forget Dave Grohl. We all knew he was an amazing drummer and could sing, but -- holy moly -- look at what he has done post-Nirvana. Yeah, man ... count me in.

I'm a Dave Grohl fan and I'm not a Nirvana hater, I'm a Kurt Cobain 'disrespecter'. There is a difference.

Either way, I like Nirvana. Sometimes.

John thats exactly my point, whether you or I like or dislike nirvanah is of no ones business but our own.

I hate the way their portrayed as being anti establishment. They were nothing but happy gogo dancers used by mtv to get in on the alternative music market. They wouldnt have got anywhere had it not been for their submission/employment to/by the establishment they hated so much.

Much the same could be said for Rage Against the Machine and Manic Street Preachers although I appreciate the guitar work in those bands.

Defo  As I said but I liked them when I was a kid but that was just cos everyone did then as some teenage angst thing. GN'R were always my band cos they didn't give a $@!& yet Slash and Izzy could play a mean geetar. I lost respect for him more over the years from how selfish he was, he had everything, including a baby daughter.

I'd bet my 72 Tele Custom that he's caused more teenage suicides than prevented them. Strong comment but I stand by it.

This is the US pal. I have the right to despise or like anything I damm well please. I love Fender guitars and do enjoy having a nice cool iced coffee now and then, but as far as I'm concerned, Nirvana sucks! Get it?

 Same goes for the U.K.

Bear in mind that our Nirvana fans here are just kids though, as usual, so don't be too harsh. They don't know much better. I just explain why I don't like them.

But it is about Cobain, its the anti-haters, you posted this right after you called some of us haters on another thread.

I don't hate Nirvana...

I just hate one person in that band who took the lame *ss way out and shot himself in the head because he thought he was all messed up and didn't want to be a rockstar anymore. Meanwhile, leaving a daughter to be raised by her mom and nannies...like daddy killing himself might not adversely affect his daughter for the rest of her life. Like I said in another thread, if he couldn't handle being a celebrity in the early 90s, then maybe he did the right thing to himself cause his wimpy *ss wouldn't survive in this TMZ, twitter, blog era, though I still think it was a total losers way out.

I don't know the definition "to" nirvana but I do know the definition "of"nirvana, it's sitting on the deck on a warm summer's day with a beautiful Mozart symphony on the stereo a jug of lemonade (I don't drink alcohol) the smell of the ocean in the air and watching the sea gulls spiralling overhead.BTW you can substitute Paganini,Beethoven,Bach, Boccherini,Hendrix,Beatles,The Smiths,Death Cab For Cutie, really anything but Nirvana for Mozart.I don't hate Nirvana,it's just that I found no redeeming qualities in their music or lyrics, they may appeal to younger people who may be on the same wave length as Cobain etc. but my musical tastes are much more eclectic and sophisticated.Don't take it so much to heart if someone doesn't share your passion for Nirvana, they're just not everyone's cup of tea and face it,some people find their music hard to take.My wife hates classical music but I don't get steamed up and throw her out, different strokes for different folks.

It means a place or state characterized by freedom from or oblivion to pain, worry, and the external world.I have to say that wasn't the best name for kurts band but oh well.I am not a solid fan of nirvana becuase of their music thats part of it though.I am a fan because I know his family.

He was correcting your grammar, not asking the meaning.
Thats no reason to be a fan. I have a very famous Aunt, prob more well known than Cobain and I hate her music.

Lots of Hindu's and Buddhists know the way to Nirvana. So do I, but the forum rules dont allow discussing of illegal subjects  .

CC who's your auntie? I made central news one night, for all the wrong reasons.
