Who do you guys prefer partnering Keith Richards in the Stones?

This isn't a 'what era of The Stones do you prefer' question, its who do you think played off him best?

So who is it?

Brian Jones
Mick Taylor or
Ron Wood?

Although he was never recognized as such Brian was a better guitarist than Keef and really overshadowed him-musically anyway.Of the rest I think I'd have to go with Woody.

Forgot to add mine! lol Lovin the love for Jones. I very much like him and Woody but most of my favourite Stones albums have Taylor on guitar. But as I said its not the era of the band its the partnership and I'd go Jones.

Wow this is rather difficult to answer. Brian Jones was the founder of the Stones which a lot of people dont know so Keith was just an equal band mate at that time before he and Mick took over the band. Brian had an uncanny ability to pick up any instrument and play it. That is him playing Sitar on Paint it Black and Xylophone on Under my Thumb as well as all the early slide guitar.

Mick Taylor was much younger then everyone when he joined and the best lead player the Stones had. This was probably there strongest period.

Ronnie is just Ronnie.lol The ultimate pro who likes the background and without a doubt Keiths best mate in the band as far as getting along. And it is amazing he has been in the band over 30 years longer than Jones and Taylor combined.

Okay after analyzing it all I would say Jones.

Though an amazing thing is that in one sense Ronnie wasn't "in" the band at all for most of that time. He was on a salary like the other hired musicians, he wasn't a shareholding band member.

Apparently he was perfectly happy with it like that. So the ideal guy for money grubbing Jagger to have around, whatever Keef felt about it.

I believe Ronnie did finally become a "member" of the Stones in the last few years.

Cheers - C

Gotta go with Jones. The band lost a certain signature sound and dimension without him.

Same here but as I said in the question, its who do you think played better with Keith as a partnership, most talented etc. Not necessarily the era, thats why I went Jones. 8)
