I like the figuring on the maple top...not worth $4K, though.

Yup, you are right, Slash used replica Les Paul's for AFD. The only REAL Gibson he used was an SG on My Michelle and Izzy used a Gibson ES-137.

[edit] So sayin that there isn't a Gibson LP on the album at all!

What Twelvebar said. He was a famous luthier and when Guns were recording Slash had only really used Strats and B.C. Rich's as well as a Tele and LP he'd borrowed from Izzy. He was very picky with his sound whereas Izzy recorded all his parts in one take, Slash re-done his solos many times over cos he wasn't satisfied and then 'found' his tone. He records with these replicas to this day with the odd exception and you can see one of them in the Sweet Child O' Mine video.

Its a very nice guitar, if money wasnt a problem I would buy one. I prefer his original signature guitar with the fishman pickup, but its still nice.

He's had 4 signatures in total now. Are you talking about the Snakepit logo one? The first one? Thats the only one I liked.

The 2 tone burst one? Beautiful guitar. He recently had a Gold-top too after that one and now the new one. I didnt know the first was Epi only though, I remember playing one way back and liked it but Les Pauls and my hands generally dont agree.

Now an Izzy Stradlin signature 60's Telecaster or 70's Tele Custom or Es-135 or Es-137. I'd snap one of those up in a heart beat. I love Stradlin's playing.

Izzy was responsible for the greasy sleazy rock sound that I loved about GnR when they first came around , as much as Slash and Axl were the faces of the band I never liked them nearly as much after izzy left. i never realized what it was that I liked that wasn't there anymore until that first Juju Hounds album came out.

Exactly man plus Izzy wrote most of their songs. He's had 9 other albums after Ju Ju Hounds, you should check them out. The last 5 being iTunes only releases. Ju Ju Hounds was a GREAT album, truly rockin!
