Anyone got a good story about waiting, and looking, and searching for that one guitar, and finally finding it and buying it under less than normal circumstances? Every guitar I've ever wanted I've bought at one time or another over the years.
I guess the one that comes to mind was a couple of years ago I really wanted a Martin HD-28 for a long time. The music store had one for $2000, and they needed 20% down to hold it. Later on that week I was cleaning out some old file cabinets in the basement at home, and low and behold inside a file folder were two $100 bills I had put away years ago to pay my property taxes with, and had forgotton was there!! I couldn't get down to the music store quick enough.

1992 SRV Sig Strat with Brazilian fretboard, took a while to finally find one but she sure was worth it.

not all that elusive, but i've wanted a strat... a real one for some time now.
was out on a job repairing a sign and while my son was up on the ladder doing the work i stopped into the brand new music store a few doors down... and there she was, black lacquer with a maple fretboard, 3 single coils, and a very nice skunk-stripe down the back of the neck.
didn't have a dime to put down on it, but i knew that was my guitar.
got into a conversation with the wife later that night who started to say, "you know, we should start having a little more fun. we work too much and we've got the money."

well, she 's the one who opened the door. 8)

ran down to the store, put some money down to hold it, and now she's right here at home. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!!

I always wanted a Vox Mk VI since I saw my favourite Stone Brian Jones play one, they really looked cool. One day I went into my usual music store/Saturday hangout when the store owner,a very good buddy of mine told me that he had a Vox MkVI come in the day before but another one of my buddies bought it for $50 for his girlfriend to learn on as it was so easy to play. I immediately went to his house and offered him $60 for it but he wouldn't bite, anyway I finally got my MKVI for $90 and he almost doubled his money but I didn't care as I finally had one of the coolest guitars made and I still have it and 2 more vintage Voxes.

I was talking to a good friend last year about how I really wanted a 60's Gibson acoustic. Next thing you know, he pulls a case out from his closet and says "Like this one?" It is a 1964 Gibson LG-0. He sold it to me for $100 because it need some work done on the bridge. It has THE BEST blues tone Ive ever heard out of an acoustic.
