I jsut got off playing my guitar for 45 minuts and I had something to ask all of you guys who sing and play at the same time; Is it alot easier on the guitar to sing and play, rather than just play? Cause I was doing that, and I actually found I wasn't focusing more on my guitar playing, so that made it better. I was focusing probably 60% singing and 40% paying. Doe it work for you?

Yeah same, even if I'm just holding a guitar and not doing anything with it.

Well since I started on an acoustic I never had a problem playing and singing though my voice causes every cat in the area to join in.lol The only time I find it difficult if there is a riff based song that has a pretty tuff riff carrying the song.

It's the opposite for me. I used to be a pretty decent singer, but I have never been able to sing and play at the same time.

If I have to sing and attempt to play... because I can't really play much of anything just yet and "Walk Don't Run" has no lyrics... let's just say it ain't pretty.

My wife seems to think I am so clumsy I could trip on air but I fool her a lot and step over it.

Oh yeah... playing and singing. I knew there was a topic.

I find it difficult to sing because playing requires so much of my concentration at this early point in my yet to be illustrious career as a famed rock legend. It's tough to keep a rhythm when you stop singing and have to search for the next chord.  Gawd I really suck... but I'm sucking less each week.

Rock on! 8)

No interest in singing.

'Am a melody-line guitar picker and bassist at chrurch, so there's a choir to do that.

This is related to my complaint against Soundgarden in concert. Chris Cornell is an amazing singer. But seeing Soundgarden live, he played guitar the whole time. And you could tell he was concentrating alot on his playing ... so much so his singing seemed to suffer. Someone should have took the guitar away and handed him a microphone: "Nice playing, Chris, but ... uh ... you're done with the git for the night. Here is your microphone."

I am slowly learning what to do wth my hands when I'm singing and not holding a guitar. Our band has grown and we have 3 guitarists so when we play songs where I don't play and sing lead, I'm having to do something other than just stand there. I have to practice what to do with my hands, otherwise I end up just doing the silly dance and moving my hands kind of silly. It's easier when I'm sining backup and not playing guitar for some reason the dancing around is easier. I usually just follow our female lead singer. She used to teach and compete nationally in ballroom dancing contests.
