I know i posted about this before ( fender competitions only open to U.S. residents.

For a global company, i think its bad form. E.U citizens deserve the chance to win a free guitar also.

It's the way it is. Legalities make it too complicated to run the contest across multiple countries.

Get over it

Does my head in too but yup, its legalities, its not FMIC's fault.

It's the same in different places.

I have a Limited Edition Marshall amp that was only available to people in my country. Also, I won a Guitarist magazine prize (a row of pedals) that was only open to people in the UK and Ireland.

And I get messages from Roland Europe inviting me to enter competitions that are only for those in the EU. How annoying for our Norwegian friends! I expect Roland do the same in other territories.

No doubt the same goes for numerous other brands in various localities.

I bet Yamaha has some good competitions in their part of the world. And I wonder what tasty offerings Fender Japan make to people over there that the rest of us can't have? I'd like to win one of those translucent white-burst Richie Kotzen Strats. Mmmm!

And most importantly of all: both Nikininja and myself have won generous quality prizes right here on the Fender Forum. No trans-Atlantic complaints from over here!!!

Ceri and Niki...I think your winnings are due to your numerous and informing posts. A lot of good information comes from both of you and I`m sure Fender realizes that and rewards you both for your contribution to the forum. Its nice to have people like that here. We learn from it and thanks for all the helpful advice you guys have posted....Joe

Wow, that's very nice: thank you so much. :D

Though in fact my posts were in the low hundreds when I won a $300 spending spree at the online store - the first non-American to win something here. So I don't think it was a reward for input - or at least if so it was a pre-emptive strike!

Anyhow, important to note that at least as far as this Forum is concerned it really is worldwide! That's Brad's doing - very cool.

Cheers - C

Hello again everyone, i just have to chime in here with my many thanks indeed to all of the people here who have helped me far beyond what i asked for every time i posted any queries. The issues i faced were very much real problems to me in a big way, and i've been rescued aplenty here! And that's just a part of the full benefit i have been blessed with, because in addition to having my issues resolved painlessly, i have learned more here in a matter of a few months, than i have in all the years i've been playing guitar before discovering this awesome forum! I'm really grateful to you all. I will remember to follow your example when i see others in need of advice and offer my help with the valuable knowledge you all have given so freely to me. You are all a true brotherhood, in the finest sense of the word.

I do play it mate. I even jumbled the bands setlist and rearranged three songs just so I can incorporate it into gigs.

Be very sure mate, your guitar is being pampered, played and checked, set and rechecked incessantly. When it's ready I'll send it on.

You know I'm not someone to be satisfied with anyone getting less than perfection.

Thanks, I didn't get that one. I got the Hendrix thing that I wasn't very interested in. (I don't play left handed.)

Sorry you can't register but I think I have a better chance of getting hit by lightning so don't feel bad. I live in the lightning capital of the world.
