The guitar is infinite so I cant see how anyone no matter how great could feel 100% satisfied. Maybe I can feel that way about a piece of music or solo I laid down but never about the guitar as a whole. There are always new things to learn and weak points that non players would not even notice to work on. And everyone who is worried about playing super fast is going to lose the whole point of playing if that is all you are striving for. Speed is great to have but it is only one technique and to be honest either you are going to be able to or you are not. I am not a particularly fast player but neither is Clapton, Santana, Brian May or Georg Harrison to be honest and everyone of them is great. Also how many shredders actually make great music. Not many

I hope that I'm never satisfied with my playing or anything else for that matter. If you're not improving at something then why are you doing it?

That's too bad. I think that after you have played a while, you can have respect for yourself for how far you have come. I also think that you have to take some joy in where you are as a player at a given time.

I think I know what you are saying, in that you always need to be reaching in order to grow. :) I am good with that, but I think we all need to release ourselves from all that type of thought when we preform.

What I am saying, is to allow yourself to enjoy the moment and love the experience of playing. I have had some pretty good guitar players come up to me at a gig and tell me that they really enjoyed my performance. They were far better guitar players that I will ever be, but I was able to bring something to the song (at my own level) that was better than good enough...It managed to be art to someone.

No, I'm nowhere near satisfied with my playing -- I'm quite sure I never will be, either. :)

I don't think any of us will ever be 100% satisfied with our playing. But we can still be 100% satisfied by how much fun we have doing it and getting better. :D

Frankly, I can't stand to hear myself play. YMMV.

i'm very comfortable with my playing, i like how i play and it's good enough for me. I don't need to be the next Hendrix or Vaughan.

Hell No!
Although technically speaking I've been fooling around with guitar for over 40 years (and fooling is the right word) I've only ever got anywhere playing bass. (and that could stand some practice, too!)
So, really, for all intents and purposes, I'm pretty much a beginner, albeit with some advantage of what you might loosely call a 40 year head start. My main problem is an utter lack of discipline when it comes to practicing.
