I can't see life without either one of them as both are wonderful guitars although having 5 Strats and one Tele I guess Strats have the edge for versatility.

I voted Strat because the Strat is more versatile and comfortable to play.

That being said I do own both

Personally I hate Strats....middle pickup and volume knob are always in my way, and too many contours, it doesn't fight me enough when I play it...thats a personal ting thats hard to explain, but I hope somebody here knows what I mean... :P

Played strats for 30 years, picked up first tele in 06, Its my main axe now. Both guitars should be a requirement. Should note that Clapton, Page, Jeff Beck all played Tele's at the beginning of their careers with the yardbirds. I believe Page used a Tele on the first two Led Zep albums. Both are great guitars. Let your hands and ears be the judge. :)

Sorry I wasn't clear on my vote...I did not vote for one over the other. That is something you need to find out for yourself. LIke I said, I never appreciated the simplicity of the Telecaster until recently. I still do not own one and my next guitar purchace will still be another Strat, but the one after that may be a Tele.

There both very nice guitars. But its the Strat's contours and more curvy edges that won me over. Although Teles with contours are great too.

Both great playing and sounding guitars... its just i like the strats comfort. i feel more at home playing one.
