Liked Dog soldiers as previously mentioned.

Another great film is "Ravenous" good story, great actors and soundtrack in my opinion.

The Sentinal-with Burgess Meredith circa 1977- and The Manitou-with Tony Curtis of all people starring as a private detective are 2 particularly stunning chillers that surpass even the Excorcist in pure scariness IMHO.

Last year I bought a 12 disc DVD set called Horror Classics that does contain some of the best early horror films ever made including Nosferatu,Phantom of the Opera,The Wolfman and actors such as Boris Karloff,Lon Chaney,Vincent Price,Bela Lugosi Etc. You get 50 great movies for about $20-$25.It's put out by Mill Creek Entertainment and you'll find them here: http://www.millcreekent.com/

Halloween (the original from the 70s)
Alien
The Thing (John Carpenter)
Event Horizon

The Thing is the greatest horror movie I've ever seen.

I think Zombieland was quite well done, although more of a comedy that an actual horror movie.

I just saw a movie that was made by the Puppet Master producers called Evil Bong, It does have a cameo by Tommy Chong but he's about the only actor I recognized.
Warning might not be suitable for viewers under the age of 18.

i wouldn't excatly call it a horror movie, i'd consider it more of a drama/thriller. either way it was a darn good movie :D
