I'm thinking about a trip with the express purpose of buying a new guitar. It is a milestone year in my life for many reasons (one example is I turn 25) and I'd like a Strat with a special story...doesn't have to be an expensive strat just one I like...

I was wondering...have I reached the pinnacle of G.A.S. craziness or have you guys ever arranged a trip around a guitar purchase? 8)

You have not reached the pinnacle of GAS craziness yet, you just know what you are looking for in a Stratocaster.

Let us know the outcome of your road trip. Post pics if it is a sucessful journey.

Thanks for the posts guys...at first I thought this topic might be a dud. The trip probably won't happen until the summer but as I said it's kind of an important year and I want a story and a strat to remember it by. 8)

I think your right to. As the Blues Bros say: 'We're on a mission from God'. Make it your mission to get any instrument in your arsenal. Have a story from the get go!

Okay but you are going to have to make it interesting, like no going to a GC or Sam Ash. I think a mission of only mom and pop stores and pawn shops will make a great story of a great find.

Actually that is exactly what I had in mind...a mom and pop shop...it'd be cool-

How about a Boston area pawn shop? A strat with a story sounds like a guitar that came to the city from somewhere else and life happened around it. The who, what, why when and how of it all and the dings and dents as well will be part of the guitar's life so far.

Cheers,
John.E

Not crazy in this opinion; it's just a longer trip to the music stores.

Personally guilty, too. Few years ago, had a biz trip to Vegas and veritably all after-work time and all money was allocated to finding a Mosrite at Ed Roman's.

Best of fortune.

I am going on a guitar journey of sorts next week. Going to California to see some friends and the Joe Bonamassa concert while I am out there. Other than the concert next on the agenda will be meeting up with a friend of a friend to buy the exact parlor guitar I have been looking for. It is a Republic RP-1 parlor guitar and it has all the features I am looking for (vintage headstock, inlay, modern neck, 11" lower bout, made in USA) and the price was just right.

Good luck on your voyage to find a guitar and post pics when you get it!

JPD, that would be nucking futz.

Personally, 'am par'ful fearful thereof. 'Would need to be sedated and not allowed to sell the house and IRAs on gear.
