This may have been discussed before but what are your thoughts on Joe Bonamassa? I recently found out about the guy and I have to say I am impressed with his playing and his talent. He has a real good sound and seems to be a pretty accomplished musician.

I have 5th row tickets to see him in Riverside in 2 weeks and looking forward to it.

Any thoughts on Joe B.?

Personally, I had never heard of him until this forum. But I think of myself as the exception, rather than the rule. Around here, his name seems to conjure up visions of near-manic guitarist fervor. There are lots of his fans here.

Joe is "All World" in my book. You will be amazed with his abilities. Pick up the Ballad of John Henry CD or the Blues Deluxe CD and be amazed. 8)

I'm not that familiar with his work, but he's playing here in Sydney at the end of the month so I'll be going along and anticipating a good time. I'll be seeing the "other" JB (Beck) the night before, so all up it should be the best "hump day" experience I've had..!

I would have to agree that he's amazing. It's too bad that people like him don't get the start treatment that others do but really he has universal respect and admiration from guitarists of all genres so I'm sure that he sleeps well at night.

Joe Bonamassa is great. He has a great bass player, too (not sure who it is).
I particularly like Current Situation, Don't Burn Down That Bridge and Blues Deluxe (a tune Jeff Beck does).

I am not the least bit jealous of anyone but there are some people on this post that I have to admit I am jealous of and Mondo you most of all. Joe B is the real Mcoy and just a monster player and performer that has been doing it since he was 5. As Beubs said just pick up the Ballad of John Henry and I will add his Albert Hall DVD and then you will be buying up his past works. How I wish Clapton puts him onstage with Mayer at Crossroads as a pairing of the future and we can separate the contender from the pretender and send him back to acoustic ville.

I saw him in Oct and took my wife. She didn't really want to go because she doesn't care for the blues that much. After the show she said by the second song she was his biggest fan.

IMHO his shows are near spiritual, incredible tones. Seems to be a very grounded musician.

Yo mate! He's in Town Hall this month.(Date???) Had to pass up an invite from a friend to go that night. Interferes with my schedule. You might want to see if there are any more tics available. A Thursday night I believe.

UPDATE: Thursday April 15th.

I only heard about him recently from a guy I work with. Unfortunately he's not playing near anywhere I can get to so I really envy the others here who are going to see him

Believe it or not Blues Deluxe was written by... Rod Stewart. It's not obvious, is it?

Apparently I get to meet Bonamassa at a "thing" in May. If that provides a photo op you can be sure I'll post pix. :D

Cheers - C
